Wine Advocate (93)The 2015 Reserva Conde de Vimioso is a blend of 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Aragonez and the rest Syrah, aged for 18 months in oak ranging from new to third use. It comes in at 14% alcohol. Concentrated, beautifully structured and rather on the powerful side on opening, this is not quite ready to drink, although you could certainly approach it now. With an hour of air, it actually drank very well. Another year or two in the cellar would help it, though. It went like this: on opening, a bit oaky and not ready; after an hour, beautiful. Add a couple of points to the score. Leave it on the table for three hours and then let it air in a glass for half an hour—gorgeous. Add more points. Of the Tejo onslaught this issue, this was probably my favorite. The oak is a bit prominent now, but it doesn't come close to subsuming the nuanced fruit. That first hour of aeration lets the mid-palate absorb the wood very well. The complex flavor medley runs from blueberries to beef. The mid-palate eventually shows some fine finesse, although this is certainly burlier than its unoaked sibling this issue. This well-crafted red is a refined and silky beauty with a bit of a crisp edge. I suspect that it will eventually show far more complexity as well. This is not imported, so the price is just an estimate. |

It has a lot of tannins, yet more than enough fruit. The 2015 is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, brought up in 60% new French oak, and it needs 7-8 years of bottle age and will shine for 2-3 decades. Bravo! |

Pastry, a hint of smoke and autolytic notes provide a compelling counterpart to eager yet elegant aromas of citrus (lime, tangerine and kumquat) joined by those of fresh fruit, herbs, liquorice, and menthol. There is even a refreshing note of ivy. The palate is tense, vibrant, and very fresh despite its impressive density, which meets its match with an unending finish. This 2012 incarnates the very essence of Dom Pérignon with such a concentrated degree of intensity, along with a capacity for ageing, that it is surely destined for a second life in a P2 edition. |

Derived predominantly from holdings in Avize, it's full-bodied, layered and immensely concentrated, with a tightly wound, structured core and racy acid spine that mark it out as emphatically built for the long haul. Deep and vinous, I suspect that it will surpass the 2008 rendition at maturity. |

Wine Advocate (96+)Disgorged in January 2021 with two grams per liter dosage, the 2015 Extra-Brut Premier Cru Clos de l'Abbaye has turned out brilliantly. Wafting from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, warm bread and honeycomb that are still a little reserved after its recent disgorgement, this is a full-bodied, layered and concentrated Champagne that's vinous and textural, displaying notable depth and mid-palate amplitude that's framed by lively acids and an enlivening pinpoint mousse, concluding with a long resonant finish. As I've written before, this cuvée derives from a walled 0.4-hectare plot of 60-year-old cordon-pruned vines just behind the winery in Vertus, and only the first and second "serres" of the press are used. |

Look out for dark, urgent fruits here sweetened and back-lit by cunningly angled oak, with intense, deep, fresh and searching flavours in which the 10% of Graciano seems to be working overtime. Wine Advocate (93)The 2015 Reserva Conde de Vimioso is a blend of 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Aragonez and the rest Syrah, aged for 18 months in oak ranging from new to third use. It comes in at 14% alcohol. Concentrated, beautifully structured and rather on the powerful side on opening, this is not quite ready to drink, although you could certainly approach it now. With an hour of air, it actually drank very well. Another year or two in the cellar would help it, though. It went like this: on opening, a bit oaky and not ready; after an hour, beautiful. Add a couple of points to the score. Leave it on the table for three hours and then let it air in a glass for half an hour—gorgeous. Add more points. Of the Tejo onslaught this issue, this was probably my favorite. The oak is a bit prominent now, but it doesn't come close to subsuming the nuanced fruit. That first hour of aeration lets the mid-palate absorb the wood very well. The complex flavor medley runs from blueberries to beef. The mid-palate eventually shows some fine finesse, although this is certainly burlier than its unoaked sibling this issue. This well-crafted red is a refined and silky beauty with a bit of a crisp edge. I suspect that it will eventually show far more complexity as well. This is not imported, so the price is just an estimate. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97)I absolutely loved the 2015 Léoville-Barton and this has everything you could want from a Left Bank Bordeaux. Cassis, smoked earth, graphite, tobacco leaf, and thrilling amounts of minerality all emerge from this inky colored, full-bodied, power-packed, brut of a Saint-Julien that holds everything together and stays pure, balanced and elegant on the palate. It has a lot of tannins, yet more than enough fruit. The 2015 is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, brought up in 60% new French oak, and it needs 7-8 years of bottle age and will shine for 2-3 decades. Bravo! |
