Wine Advocate (92-94)
Aromas of waxy citrus rind, marzipan, white flowers and warm pastry introduce the 2018 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot), a full-bodied, ample and enveloping wine that's layered, textural and lively, concluding with a nicely defined finish.Inc. VAT£3,497.09 -
Burghound (93-96)
Don't Miss! An overtly floral-suffused nose features notes of lilac, carnation and acacia blossom that are trimmed in spice, citrus rind and soft wood wisps. The strikingly pure and beautifully defined larger-bodied flavors are not super-dense but I very much like the texture, all wrapped in a clean, bone-dry and compact finish that flashes plenty of focused power. This could also use a bit more depth but that shouldn't be an issue. As an aside, for those readers who were Sauzet fans 25-ish years ago, the '21 Bâtard reminds me quite a bit of the 1993, which is one of Sauzet's all-time great vintages.Inc. VAT£2,951.54 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (88-91)
Real powerful black purple. Brutally concentrated nose. Much firmer tannins, black fruit, a little less acidity, built more around the tannic structure. Powerful stuff but not unbalanced. Tasted: October 2021Inc. VAT£451.24 -
The Pierrick Bouley Aloxe-Corton 2020 flaunts impeccable Burgundian pedigree, hailing from the famed terroirs of Aloxe-Corton, nestled in the Côte de Beaune. Pierrick Bouley, esteemed for his hands-off winemaking approach, allows nature to illustrate its story. Year 2020 was marked by significant weather challenges, thereby demanding meticulous winemaking finesse. This resulted in a wine that sings with expressions of ripe plum, tart cherry, and layered spice. Expertly cultivated Pinot Noir vines, aged between 40 and 80 years, offer intensity and old-vine complexity.
Reverently applying organic and bio-dynamic farming methods, Bouley ensures the vines' resilience and longevity, preserving the estate's illustrious heritage. Mastered maturation achieved through 18 months in French oak, with minimal intervention, enhances the terroir's voice, manifesting a wine of supreme elegance and harmony. An indisputable testament to Boutley's prowess, the Pierrick Bouley Aloxe-Corton 2020 has elegantly embodied the classic character of Burgundy wine.

Burghound (94)
Hints of mineral reduction and matchstick character suffuse the elegant aromas of honeysuckle, acacia blossom and spiced pear that are trimmed in wisps of wood and lemon rind. The super-sleek, intense and nicely detailed flavors possess good richness on the citrusy and beautifully long finale where moderate warmth slowly emerges. This elegant effort is perhaps a bit bolder and powerful than is usually the case and a BBM that should age gracefully over the next decade.Inc. VAT£5,353.24
