Drouhin mentioned that quite a few barrels were deselected from this vineyard and blended into the Côte de Beaune Blanc. This possesses an intense bouquet with subtle scents of almond, praline and pressed white flower aromas. The palate is taut and linear on the entry, featuring lovely orange pith and apricot notes and hints of tangerine and white chocolate toward the gorgeous, pure finish. Wonderful. |

There is even better volume to the sleek and delicious middleweight flavors that are less mineral-driven but more powerful and slightly more persistent and bone-dry finish that is also exceptionally well-balanced. This is excellent and I would go so far as to observe that it's the best vintage for the Clavoillon in a long time. It is typically considered to be less interesting than the other 1ers (and not without reason) in the Leflaive portfolio and while it doesn't surpass them in 2021, it is most impressive nonetheless. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2020 Beaune Cras 1er Cru includes 30% whole bunch as a trial for Jadot whose policy has always been to de-stem. To be honest, if I had this blind, I would not have said there is stems in this blend, which I see as a good thing. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh and I do think those stems lend more freshness on the finish. Excellent. |

Wine Advocate (92+)Opening in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries and plums framed by a deft application of toasty new oak, the 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Célébration (Maison Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a fleshy core of fruit structured around rich tannins and succulent acids. It's a hearty, generous wine that should evolve nicely in the cellar. As usual, it's a blend of more than a dozen Beaune premiers crus. |

The palate is well balanced with good depth and grip, slightly waxy in style, fine acidity with touches of tangerine and orange pith towards the finish. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)5 Star Wine. There will be no En la Richarde Folatières from Héritiers Louis Jadot this year, but this bottling is superb. A little more toastiness on the nose. This builds beautifully to the back of the palate, showing an excellent backbone with just the right elegance of minerality. Really good. Bravo Drink from 2026-2033. Tasted: October 2022 |
