Wine Advocate (96)
The 2014 Ruchottes Chambertin Grand Cru takes time to unfurl in the glass, eventually opening out with dark berry fruit, a touch of briary and blueberry, and a suggestion of sea spray. It is paradoxically intense but subtle. The palate is medium-bodied and here, it just shows the wood a little more than say, the Clos de la Roche. There is good density here, but it is the acidity that drives this forward and imparts so much tension. This is a Ruchottes that rivets you to the spot.Inc. VAT£7,519.24 -
Wine Advocate (92+)
The best candidate for cellaring this year is the 2017 Givry 1er Cru A Vigne Rouge, a serious wine that unwinds in the glass with notes of cherries, red berries and potpourri. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with good concentration, tangy acids and an elegantly powdery tannic chassis, concluding with a long, precise finish.Inc. VAT£463.27 -
Vinous (98)
The 2014 Ruchottes-Chambertin is a wondrous wine. Two recent tastings in Burgundy reconfirmed its strong performance when poured blind at the Burgfest tasting. It has an intense pomegranate and raspberry scented bouquet that seems to switch up through the gears with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and lithe, laden with succulent black fruit and insistent grip, perhaps just beginning to close up for a while. Outstanding. Tasted in Burgundy.Inc. VAT£3,921.62
