Vinous (87-89)The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge, which comes from the Vosne-Romanée appellation, has a well-defined bouquet of wild strawberry and raspberry aromas; there is something almost sedate about the nose. The pure, harmonious palate offers quite high-toned red and blue fruit. Sorbet-fresh toward the finish, with veins of blood orange. Very fine for its class. |

Burghound (87-89)(from vines in Vosne). A fresh and distinctly earthy nose speaks mostly of various dark berries. Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (87-88)(from 45-year-old vines in Concoeur, in the hills behind Vosne-Romanée; there was no frost here in 2016 but vines in a small valley just 500 meters away were decimated, according to Tardy; 12.1% natural alcohol chaptalized to 12.8%): Healthy dark red. Ripe, sappy aromas of black cherry, black raspberry and licorice. A medium-bodied wine with sweet berry and cherry fruit flavors framed by a firm edge of acidity and complicated by a leathery nuance. Lovely vinosity here, with an acidulated red fruit character and fine, dusty tannins that suggest this wine will evolve slowly. Tardy told me that Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet and Domaine Arlaud own vines in the same windy, rocky, essentially flat site. |

Wine Advocate (86-88)The 2015 Pommard Les Perrières has quite a rich bouquet with touches of fig infusing the kirsch and cassis aromas. The palate is sweet on the entry with bold tannin, moderate complexity with a firm, slightly confit-like finish that needs to muster a little more precision. Not bad, although maybe just picked a day or two too late? Let's see. |
