James Suckling (95)
This is a beautiful Giscours with tension and finesse. It's full-bodied and shows plenty of berry and spice character, not to mention a long, silky-textured finish. It seduces you with each sip. Why wait?Inc. VAT£1,236.07 -
James Suckling (96)
Plenty of violets and dark berries on offer here. This has a striking sense of purity as well as an energetic, regal palate. The structure is impressively groomed with effortless depth and length. A standout wine. Try from 2022.Inc. VAT£950.47 -
James Suckling (96-97)
The black color indicates a solid and structured red with loads of blackberry and blueberry character. Full-bodied and very tight and tensioned. Savory tannins that are powerful and intense at the finish. Classically structured. Finely toned and formed young red.Inc. VAT£408.04 -
James Suckling (96-97)
Lots of deep blue fruit with blackberries and grape skins, as well as tar and asphalt. Lead, too. It’s full-bodied, yet very tight with powerful, defined tannins, surrounded by attractive ripe fruit. Serious. Reminds me of the excellent 1975. A blend of 65% cabernet sauvignon and 35% merlot.Inc. VAT£289.24 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)
Picked 19th September, with enough fruit for two tanks: one was destemmed and the other not at all. Fresh light purple, one never expects a great depth of colour from the Clos des Poutures. This is very attractive and with a bit more flesh round the edges than sometimes, enough acidity, some tannins from the terroir and the vinification, but overall making an attractive ensemble here with some length.Inc. VAT£565.24 -
Wine Advocate (88-90)
Produced from purchased fruit and vinified with one-third whole clusters, the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes (négoce) bursts with aromas of raspberries, berries, woodsmoke and sweet soil tones. It's medium to full-bodied, succulent and fine-boned, with a delicate core of fruit framed by powdery tannins.Inc. VAT£583.24 -
Tim Atkin MW (93)
Not currently available.Inc. VAT£368.44 -
Jancis Robinson (16.5)
Deepish cherry red. Smells riper and richer than the Bourgogne and with intense and seductive red fruit, subtly floral and so open. Not especially long but delicious in its fragrant and open Chambolle character.Inc. VAT£654.04 -
Burghound (89-91)
(from 11 different parcels in 7 different lieux-dits). A more elegant and slightly fresher nose is composed by aromas of black cherry, raspberry and pretty violet nuances. There is a really lovely texture to the delicious, saline-inflected and sneaky long finish that is very well-balanced. A quality Chambolle villages. (89-91)/2025+Inc. VAT£1,327.24 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a vivid bouquet with red cherries, cranberry and violet scents, actually, quite Vosne-like in personality. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite poised and tense with a dash of spice on the finish. This is a delicious Chambolle that should give 12-15 years' drinking pleasure.Inc. VAT£934.84 -
Inc. VAT£3,403.24
-
Vinous (87-89)
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau, wiped out last year after frost, has a straitlaced, rather reserved bouquet, touches of sous-bois and tobacco tincturing the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a little foursquare and perhaps, relative to Grivot’s other 2017s, just missing a little energy on the finish.Inc. VAT£794.44 -
Jancis Robinson (17)
Bottled. Pale shaded crimson. Intense floral perfume. Pure Chambolle with real excitement and detail. Pretty early maturing though.Inc. VAT£1,113.89 -
Jancis Robinson (17.5)
Bottled. Especially pale rim. Very floral and hedonistic. Sweet start and surely just what burgundy lovers currently seek. Really rather gorgeous fruit and precision with just a little dry finish so probably worth waiting a while. Very long.Inc. VAT£1,553.09 -
Vinous (93)
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru has an open nose of brambly red fruit, sous-bois and wilted rose petals, very pure and charming, and not dissimilar in style to François Bertheau's Chambolle 1er Cru. The palate is very harmonious, open and transparent. It feels lighter than others, yet the tension and precision will see this age with style, and perhaps it will not close down. Tempting now, but I would prefer to wait. Classy. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.Inc. VAT£652.84 -
Decanter (95)
This is a classic 'cuvée ronde', combining fruit from six different Premiers Crus to produce a stylish example of what Véronique Drouhin calls the 'cashmere of Burgundy'. Scented, balanced and ethereal, it's a transparent expression of Chambolle's range of terroirs, with sweet summer berry flavours and fine, velvety tannins. Accomplished stuff.Inc. VAT£932.44 -
Tim Atkin MW (94)
Most of this fruit comes from domaine-owned parcels, but some is purchased. Six parcels in total contribute to this pretty, floral and silky-textured Chambolle. Sweet red fruits spread gently across the mid-weight palate before a light ganache note joins in and brings the wine into a gently fading finish. 2022-34Inc. VAT£807.64 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89)
The 2017 La Tour de Mons is an attractive, perfumed Margaux with lovely red berry fruit and floral aromatics. Pliant and understated, the 2017 will be easy to enjoy upon release. It is perhaps a little light, but quite pretty just the same.Inc. VAT£165.64 -
James Suckling (95)
A very elegant and polished Margaux with great structure and an attractive touch of herbal freshness, then a delicate touch of sweetness at the long, fine finish. A blend of 38 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 52 per cent merlot, six per cent cabernet franc and four per cent petit verdot.Inc. VAT£398.47 -

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)
The 2017 Labégorce is powerful yet nuanced, and wonderfully complete. Cedar, tobacco, mint, dried herbs and licorice grace this wine of tremendous complexity. While it is towering in its size, richness and intensity, the 2017 is also surprisingly elegant. Creamy, ample and flavorful, this is a very good wine with rather pretty floral notes that grace the exquisite finish.Inc. VAT£175.24 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)
The 2014 Lascombes is a bold, dramatic wine. Dark stone fruit, leather, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, licorice and French oak all meld together in the glass. Lascombes is a powerful, modern Margaux with soft contours and considerable fruit intensity. All the elements come together effortlessly. Readers should expect a bold, intense wine. Tasted two times.Inc. VAT£420.04 -
James Suckling (95)
This is so powerful and rich with fantastic depth of fruit and tannin structure. Full body, chewy yet polished in impressive. Stretches the limit on tannin extraction but it’s all there. Should develop beautifully in the barrel.Inc. VAT£1,158.07 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)
Raised in 30% new wood and 70% 1 year old. Solid purple with medium depth. The nose starts on the oak and soon moves to the fruit. Very succulent again, smoothly balanced with a firm grip to the tannins. Yet it is suavely put together. High class, and it certainly has the length. Tasted: October 2019Inc. VAT£517.24 -
Wine Advocate (86-88)
The 2015 Pommard Les Perrières has quite a rich bouquet with touches of fig infusing the kirsch and cassis aromas. The palate is sweet on the entry with bold tannin, moderate complexity with a firm, slightly confit-like finish that needs to muster a little more precision. Not bad, although maybe just picked a day or two too late? Let's see.Inc. VAT£335.09 -
Wine Advocate (90)
The 2011 Pommard Les Vignots was bottled December 2012. It has a complex, slightly earthy bouquet with subtle marine influences, defined and focused with hints of black olive emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine focus, imbued with an Oriental edge (hoisin) which is folded into a fine silky finish. Drink now-2020.Inc. VAT£9,009.62 -
Vinous (94)
The 2020 Viognier The Age of Grace has a subtle, well-defined bouquet of detailed lemon sherbet, lemon thyme and crushed pebble scents, poised and, yes, graceful. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and linear and quite steely toward the almost Chenin-like finish. This is not a flamboyant, Rhône-like Viognier – it’s is far more tensile and racy. It should age extremely well in bottle.Inc. VAT£186.04 -
Christian Eedes (97)
Made from own vineyards that survived the fire and what a triumph it is. Matured for 11 months in 500-litre barrels, 40% new. The nose shows white peach, citrus and some struck-match reduction while the palate shows extraordinary concentration and well-integrated acidity before a super-long finish. It’s wonderfully well realized, possessing plenty of depth without sacrificing focus.Inc. VAT£283.24 -
Vinous (94)
The 2021 Chardonnay Estate Reserve is 100% from Greyton matured for 11 months in 500-litre barrels, 40% new. It has a wonderful bouquet with honeydew melon, apricot blossom and light crushed stone scents that percolate through with time. The palate is very well balanced with tropical hints of passion fruit and guava, but the acidity keeps everything on a tight course, very minerally on the finish. Top class.Inc. VAT£305.09 -
Vinous (96)
The 2022 Chardonnay Reserve comprises fruit from the Greyton homestead, which is oxidatively handled and fermented for 11 months in 500-liter barrels (25% new). After swirling to address the reduction, it reveals concentrated scents of dried honey, melted candle wax, orange blossom and a touch of grilled walnut. The palate is well-balanced with mineral-infused, slightly tropical fruit: quince and hints of guava that merge into a more mineral-driven taut finish. Quite a multi-faceted Chardonnay, this will age with style and panache. If that Corton-Charlemagne is a bit over-priced…and it probably is…then you know where to come.Inc. VAT£268.84
