It's full-bodied, dense and absolutely packed, yet it comes across as silky, lithe and engaging, with tremendous length and complexity on the finish. From a higher elevation site on the Côte Blonde side of the appellation, the 2018 Côte Rôtie Lancement shines more for its complexity and elegance than sheer power, offering a kaleidoscope-like array of black raspberries, blueberries, spring flowers, violets, crushed rocks, and pepper. A wine that benefits from air, it gains richness and depth with time in the glass and has medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. It doesn't have the minerality of the Les Rochins, but it’s just as seamless, elegant, and finesse-driven as they come.
