Indulge in the sophisticated elegance of Fattoria di Basciano Chianti Rufina 2021, a hidden gem of Italian winemaking. Produced in the revered region of Chianti Rufina, hallowed for its optimal climatic conditions, this exquisite vintage is a single-vineyard bottling, revealing the distinctive nuances of its terroir. The wine is meticulously crafted by Fattoria di Basciano, a renowned estate that honours Tuscan tradition with its commitment to indigenous varietals. Harvested from 40-year-old vines, the grapes have been fermented in stainless steel tanks with natural yeast before maturing in large Slavonian oak barrels, ensuring a tantalising balance of rustic charm and elegant complexity. The result is an evocative red wine, with sumptuous notes of ripe plum, black cherry, and a hint of spice, underlaid by a refined tannic structure. An immediate pleasure, Fattoria di Basciano Chianti Rufina 2021 is lucent ruby red, promising an exceptional wine experience for the discerning palates seeking the truest expression of Tuscan viticulture.

Vinous (97)
The 2018 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru does not quite have the amplitude of Magnien's Clos Saint-Denis, but it displays more vivacious red fruit, clarifying with aeration and eventually develops quite an ethereal quality. The palate is beautifully balanced with sappy red fruit laced with white pepper, sage and graphite notes. Superb structure on the finish - quintessentially Morey-Saint-Denis with wonderful sappiness. Bon vin! Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.Inc. VAT£1,915.24 -
Decanter (98)
This definitely represents a new beginning for the Clos des Lambrays, beginning with a dizzying array of aromas that range from high-toned red fruits to ripe, plummy black fruit, all touched with spice, and a suggestion of wild herbs and fresh flowers. After blending there was an average of 80% whole cluster fermentation. The texture on the palate is concentrated but not heavy, and there is a charming, silky aspect to it so, despite the tannin and density, the overall impression is one of finesse and elegance.Inc. Decanter (2027-2050)
It is hard to overstate my enthusiasm for this wine, with its impressive ripeness, plump, plummy fruit with notes of black cherry and liquorice. The texture is densely structured, firm but not hard, and long but not heavy. There is still the freshness and finesse to make this among the best wines of the vintage. This is the reunion of all the old-vine parcels in the Clos and a pretty convincing argument for director Jacques Devauges’ assertion that Lambrays is the pinnacle of Morey-St-Denis.Inc. Matthew Jukes (19+)
Federico thinks this is as good as the 1999 and the 1985. It is also the first vintage in which Federico’s son, Niccolò, handled the whole vintage himself. South West-facing, slow ripening, it sees the sun at the end of the day. Vinification is an extended maceration (25-30 days on skins), 50% large casks and 50% small French oak barriques for 18 months (fewer barriques than in time gone by). Very pure, clean and supple with richer, more refined tannins, there is a textbook nose here with thrilling red fruit and lovely, wistful cherry and cranberry tones over a deeper, darker core. 2019 was a more classic vintage – slow and steady, which is evident in this wine’s plushness. Picked end of September / early October, there is more elegance here than in the 2016, so it is more classically Rufina in its style. The acidity is perfectly balanced and yet this is a relaxed and honed wine entirely at odds with the blockbuster reds from further South. It is surprisingly forward, approachable, and gentle, but there is a lot of depth behind the scenes. As it opened up over the next few hours it became even more enthralling while always retaining its noble tannins and incredible balance.Inc. VAT£398.47
