  • Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Rioja Reserva 2007 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

Following the appreciation of the 2007 vintage from María José López de Heredia, the red 2007 Viña Tondonia Reserva is showing great, revealing unusual finesse and elegance. The nose is a little reticent but nuanced and complex, a little shy rather than explosive. The palate is medium-bodied, and the tannins are very refined. This has to be one of the finest vintages of Viña Tondonia Reserva of recent years. 200,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2015.

  • Louis Roederer Cristal 2007 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (97+)

Long-time Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon has produced yet another in a string of superb Champagnes with the 2007 Cristal. Rich, powerful and enveloping, the 2007 takes hold of all the senses and never lets up. The aromatics alone are captivating, but then the wine opens on the palate, revealing layer after layer of flavor to match a multi-dimensional, kaleidoscopic personality that will leave Champagne lovers weak at the knees. The 2007 is 58% Chardonnay and 42% Pinot Noir, which is to say a bit more Chardonnay-leaning than is the norm. The 2007 is striking today, but it should also age effortlessly for several decades. It is also without question one of the very finest new releases of the year.

  • Louis Roederer Cristal Rose 2007 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (97)

The 2007 Cristal Rosé opens with the most captivating, extraordinary bouquet imaginable. Sweet, exquisite and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2007 is intense yet weightless, with extraordinary overall balance and remarkable finesse. Today, the 2007 Cristal Rosé is a wine of pure seduction. There is little doubt the 2007 is a great Cristal Rosé in the making. This is the first vintage in which all of the fruit was farmed according to biodynamic principles. According to winemaker Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, biodynamic farming has brought increased aromatic presence in the fruit and also given the Pinot a bit more intensity than normal, so much so that in 2007 the blend is 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay as opposed to the 60/40 split that has been more typical over the years. In 2007, the fruit was picked in August, which is also unusual, but bud break got off to an early start, so the growing season turned out to be longer than the classic 100-day period that is typical from bud-break to harvest. All of that means the 2007 Cristal Rosé is a much more classic-feeling wine that one might have expected.

Good deep red. Red fruits, dried rose, graphite and spicy oak on the nose. Wonderfully fine-grained, seamless and sweet, combining outstanding fullness with an uncanny weightlessness. Extremely fine-grained and subtle, with some apparent oak spice in the middle palate. Best today on the explosive, broad aftertaste, which saturates the palate with perfume and leaves the salivary glands quivering.

In the mouth this is as exotic if not downright erotic a set of flavors as the nose intimates, allied to a primary juiciness of tart-edged black fruits and a refinement of tannins that lead to an invigorating, intriguing, and positively refreshing finish. This modern-styled St.-Emilion exhibits a lot of extraction along with a dark ruby/purple color, and opulent blueberry pie and black raspberry notes intermixed with white chocolate and espresso. The extraction pulls back just before it becomes overdone. The tannins are noticeable, but sweet. Give this 2007 1-2 years of cellaring, and enjoy it over the next 10-12 years.

The 2007 Chianti Classico Castello di Fonterutoli blossoms on the palate with dark red cherries, flowers, spices and subtle French oak. Darker smoke, tar and licorice nuances develop in the glass, adding notable richness. A juicy, round finish caps off this magnificent wine from Fonterutoli. Jancis Robinson (17.5)

Nicolas Potel's négociant wine. 'No chaptalisation and no filtration therefore the most natural wines we've made for years. Some winemakers make a comparison with 2003 – but there were more than 100 days between flowering and picking in 2007 and 2008. 2007 was less delicate than we thought; I was tempted to bottle in September but found the wines were not ready.' Much more delicate than the Clos St-Denis. Wild strawberry fruit aromas plus delicate spice, and then more marked spice on the palate. All in a restrained and scented style and leading to a lingering finish and very fine tannins.

The extraction pulls back just before it becomes overdone. The tannins are noticeable, but sweet. Give this 2007 1-2 years of cellaring, and enjoy it over the next 10-12 years.

  • Malle 2007 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (89-92)

Pineapple dominates the nose. Clean, juicy and penetrating, with very intense, pure flavors of pineapple and honey. In its power, this reminded me of a 2001. Finishes with terrific lingering fruit.

  • Margaux 2007 (12x75cl)

    Decanter (95)

All of the Left Bank firsts are tasting excellent, but Margaux stands out for the tightness and clarity of its sweet cherry and cassis fruit expression, the menthol grip on the finish, and the perfume that runs through the palate. This is a vintage that could almost be ready to drink with a good carafing, but the layers of graphite and the finesse to the tannins suggest it could also go longer. A great example of the subtle crafting possible in 2007.

  • Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge 10 Years Release 2007 (3x75cl)

    Jancis Robinson (17.5)

Smoke, leaf litter, black cherry, very fine, misted tannins. Dry and stately. Lots of structure and not so much fruit power as some other vintages. Lovely expressive nose though – a really delicate example.

  • Mazzei Chianti Classico Fonterutoli 2007 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2007 Chianti Classico Castello di Fonterutoli blossoms on the palate with dark red cherries, flowers, spices and subtle French oak. Darker smoke, tar and licorice nuances develop in the glass, adding notable richness. A juicy, round finish caps off this magnificent wine from Fonterutoli. In fact, this is one of the most refined vintages of the Castello I can remember tasting. As with so many Tuscan reds in 2007, the wine is delicious today, but will acquire further complexity if cellared.

  • Meo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Au Cros Parantoux 2007 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (91-94)

Good bright, deep red. Reserved aromas of black raspberry, licorice and minerals. Intensely flavored and firm-in fact quite backward in the mouth, with little easy sweetness. Plenty of structural support to the pure black cherry and mineral flavors. Quite refined, and long on the aftertaste. This tastes like it's from another vintage. Meo noted that he picked these vines late. Lots of potential here.

    Wine Enthusiast (95)

The wood element is important here, but it is based on a firm Cabernet Sauvignon structure, dry but rich tannins. The wine is a great success for the vintage, giving sweetness, ripe fruit that only shows light extraction, and dark plum and berry flavors. The feeling is of polished fruit and wood, rounded but always dense.

Full, deep yellow. Sexy aromas of exotic orange oil, candied lemon peel and mirabelle Then fat and unctuous but juicy in the mouth, with strong acidity giving penetration and clarity to the intense fruit flavors. Not an especially powerful style but creamy, dense, bright and very long.

  • Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanee 1er Gaudichots 2007 (6x75cl)
