Indulge in the esteemed Fonsalette Cotes Du Rhone Syrah 2006, a remarkable expression of the Rhône Valley. Vibrant and expressive, this Syrah is a profound testament to the well-respected winemaking prowess of Domaine du Château Rayas. This producer has a longstanding reputation for crafting exquisite, collectible wines, and the Fonsalette Syrah 2006 is exemplary of their craft. Coming from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, this vintage proffers profound layers of dark fruit and enticing spices interwoven with fine-grained tannins and a superbly balanced acidity. Made exclusively from Syrah, this deep ruby elixir underwent traditional vinification before being manicured to perfection in oak. Decadently full-bodied, this Syrah showcases the exquisite terroir from which it hails, reflecting the soil's minerality. The lingering finish makes the Fonsalette Cotes Du Rhone Syrah 2006 an unforgettable treat for both avid collectors and connoisseurs, an extraordinary selection that will add refinement to any fine wine selection. |

James Suckling (95)Frescobaldi’s Brunello always delivers great quality in just about any vintage. Gorgeous nose of ripe berries and slice plums with an almost peach undertone. Vinous (91)Good deep red. Highly aromatic nose of red fruits and flowers. Fat, sweet and deep, with very good density to the spicy red fruit flavors. Fairly large-scaled for this bottling, and long and vibrant on the back end. Better than it appeared to be a year ago; in fact, today I prefer this to the 2007. |

Vinous (93)The 2006 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is a vintage that I have not encountered previously. There is certainly fine intensity on the nose with raspberry and Morello cherry scents, appearing later crushed stone and rose petal notes. That Amoureuses sensuality really comes through. The palate is smooth and velvety with fine tannins. It is not the most complex Les Amoureuses that Christophe Roumier has ever produced, but certainly one of the most drinkable (however banal that reads.) Wonderful, though I would be inclined to drink it in the near future. Tasted at Xmas lunch at Trinity restaurant. |

Vinous (90)The 2006 G. Roumier Chambolle-Musigny is deep, perfumed and rather silky, and still relatively youthful, with plenty of life ahead. The tension and purity that is so typical of Roumier’s wines is present in spades here, though clearly this village wine lacks the flesh of Les Cras or Les Amoureuses. Egon Müller makes some of my favorite wines in the world, and therefore, besides buying for my cellar, I always try them on any other chance I get. |

Brooding and captivating, the Gravner Rosso Breg 2006 hails from the revered Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine region in Northern Italy. Crafted by renowned winemaker Josko Gravner, the multi-dimensional Gravner Rosso Breg 2006 exhibits a fascinating blend of Pignolo, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruits are vinified together in Gravner's signature open-topped wooden fermenters and maturing for six full years using amphorae, then aged in large Slavonian oak barrels. This winemaking process produces a wine offering an intriguing complexity of flavour, hinting at dried red cherries, leather, and earthy undertones that slowly mature into a nuanced and brilliant character. Unfolding with a lingering palate, this fine wine displays a perfect balance between intensity and elegance. Gravner Rosso Breg 2006 represents a journey into the classical past of winemaking, exhibiting a depth and artistry that invites exploration and delight. |

Wine Advocate (96)Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Haut-Brion has a more ostentatious bouquet than the comparatively reserved La Mission: quite feisty blackberry, briary, kirsch and red plum scents, hints of leather and sage tucked just underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity, a gentle build to a concentrated, earthy, truffle-tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. Vinous (90-92)(a negociant wine, but Boillot took over the vineyard work here in July) Medium red. A burst of cherry, licorice and spice on the nose, along with a coolish peppery note. Supple but juicy, with lively flavors of pepper and spices. Finishes long, peppery and aromatic, with dusty tannins and an almost gum-numbing austerity. The fruit here came in with 13.5% potential alcohol, but this is not going to be an early charmer. |

Vinous (92)Good full medium red. Sexy aromas of black cherry, minerals, licorice and spices, along with the high-pitched minty nuance shown by the Chevrets. Tighter in its grain and more structured and serious than the Chevrets, but at the same time displaying more class and stronger minerality. Finishes with excellent subtle aromatic persistence and unusually fine tannins for a Cote de Beaune 2006. |
