  • La Violette 2006 (6x150cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (89-92)

Medium red-ruby. Utterly captivating aromas of red fruits and iron complicated by an exotic white fruit note that reminded me of viognier. Suave and silky but not at all overly sweet, with a lovely subtle perfumed character in the mouth. Very complex and distinctive 100%-merlot wine in an elegant style. Finishes long and perfumed. This property, located between Le Pin and Trotanoy, was recently purchased by Catherine Pere-Verge, owner of Le Gay. The fruit was destemmed by hand, and the must went directly into barrel for fermentation, with Michel Rolland responsible for the winemaking.

  • Lafite Rothschild 2006 (12x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (96)

As so often with Lafite, it is power that marks this wine. That, and density of texture. The additional element in this vintage, and at this stage of the wine's development, is a dominant wood element. The vanilla and tannins from the wood match well with the concentrated tannins of the fruit, which is dark, dense and tight. This is a wine for long-term aging: in 15 years this will have superb richness.

  • Lanson Clos Lanson 2006 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93+)

From the immured one-hectare vineyard on the top of the hill, which also harbors the cellar of Champagne Lanson that dates back into the 18th century, the 2006 Clos Lanson is 100% first press Chardonnay from a very fine, chalky soil. It was fermented and aged in Argonne oak until spring 2007 (no malolactic fermentation), and disgorged after seven and a half years on the lees in December 2014 as Brut Nature with a dosage of three grams per liter. This bright yellow-golden colored prestige Champagne offers a brilliant nose of pure and ripe Chardonnay, along with delicate chalky flavors. Full and round on the palate, with a nice freshness and purity, this is a very elegant and well-balanced Blanc de Blancs. it has an aromatic as well as clear, fresh and mineral finish. This very first release has a very good length and characteristic mineral taste, with iodine notes along with ripe fruit and vanilla brioche flavors in the finish. This is a great new entry in the Lanson portfolio and it will improve with age. Total production is 7,870 serially numbered bottles.

  • Latour 2006 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (95)

Not an outstanding vintage overall for Bordeaux, 2006 had the potential to be very good. Things got off to a pretty impressive start in Pauillac this year, and then it all went a bit pear-shaped toward the end with a cool, rainy August and late September. Vineyard diligence and a take-no-prisoners attitude on the sorting table were the keys to relative success here. While it is clear Latour had their work cut out for them with this 2006 release, they managed to produce an incredibly impressive grand vin, which is drinking beautifully now yet should cellar gracefully over the next 20+ years. The 2006 Latour was just released this year and is composed of 91.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.5% Merlot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Petit Verdot. It has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and lovely open nose with florals and red fruit aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and minerally with a compelling iron ore character and great length. 10,000 cases were produced (representing 38% of production).

  • Laville Haut-Brion 2006 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

An absolutely staggering vintage for this historic and tiny estate, this 2006 has a huge nose of tropical fruit, including pineapple, as well as a liqueur of minerality, with quince, white citrus, and a hint of subtle toast. Full-bodied, with huge concentration, an almost flinty mouthfeel, zesty acidity, and a monster finish, this is a prodigious Laville Haut-Brion that needs about 10 years of cellaring and should last 30 or more years.

Good deep red. Black raspberry, sassafras, road tar and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet berry fruit shows an almost liqueur-like creaminess, but a peppery element and good underlying minerality lend grip to the finish, which features a fine dusting of tannins and nice cedary persistence. Good medium red. Highly nuanced, soil-driven aromas of strawberry, flinty minerality, roasted herbs and crushed rocks. Powerful and stunningly pure, with explosive fruit framed and complicated by pungent minerality and high notes of pepper and spice. This extremely primary wine boasts outstanding precision but is almost brutal today. The tannins reach the incisors on the extremely long and tactile finish.

  • Leroy Clos-de-Vougeot Grand Cru 2006 (3x75cl)

    Burghound (95)

This is quite ripe though not surmature, featuring a fresh array of distinctly earthy and ever so slightly rustic red and blue fruit aromas that are in perfect keeping with the robust, muscled and powerful full-bodied flavors underpinned by mouth coating tannins and superb concentration on the strikingly long finish. As impressive as this is, and it's very impressive, after the fireworks provided by the RSV and the Riche, it doesn't quite have the game to fully match up. Still, I hope to have the pleasure of trying a glass or two when it finally reaches full maturity.

  • Leroy Richebourg Grand Cru 2006 (6x75cl)

Good bright, deep red with ruby highlights. Knockout nose combines cassis, violet, minerals and menthol; this smells important! Sweet and lush in the mouth, conveying a sense of power and force without any rough edges; in fact this is downright spherical. The wine's insidious mineral concentration and rose petal lift give it great elegance in spite of its sheer size. Wonderfully long and sweet on the back end, finishing with explosive flavors of red fruits, flowers and minerals. Wow!

  • Les Forts de Latour 2006 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (92)

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Les Forts de Latour has a much more precise and lively bouquet than the Le Petit Mouton: blackberry, briary and vanilla emerging from the glass, suggesting that it needs another couple of years to reach its peak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, commendable depth of fruit and tangible mineralité. This is better than some of the Pauillac Grand Vins, such is the detail and energy on the finish. Superb. Tasted January 2016.

  • Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2006 (5x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (90-91)

Latour’s estate-bottled 2006 Corton Charlemagne displays lime peel, resin, and chalk dust in the nose; its sappy, pit- and citrus-fruit dominated palate resists the wine’s 100% new wood well; and it finishes invigoratingly with an extended reprise of citrus, resin, and chalk. This should keep well for at least 6-8 years. Latour’s very old vines in this site gave their last in 2004, but the average age of vines now is still a respectable 30 years. Admirable concentration and clarity characterize the somewhat firmer and more static 2005.

After much anticipation, the 2006 Brut Nature makes its debut with a bang. All of the classic Roederer signatures are in place, especially in its utterly beguiling, expressive bouquet. Hints of lemon peel, pastry, wild flowers and Chamomile linger on the pointed, crystalline finish. The Brut Nature emerges from estate-owned parcels in Cumieres and Hautvillers, so it is a unique blend, totally different from any of the other wines in the range. Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon plans to make the Brut Nature only in vintages that give him the natural ripeness he is looking for. As such, it will drink well now, even though it has more than enough body to drink well for another 20 years or more. This shows real density and tons of character. It’s a big wine. “In retrospect, we might have preferred a lower dosage, but the wine was quite difficult to balance in blending, so we had to go for a higher dosage,” Lécaillon adds. The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is forward and ready to go, with plenty of kirsch, blackberry, garrigue and cured meat aromas and flavors all emerging from the glass. Full-bodied and nicely concentrated, it’s a classic, elegant and complex red that can be enjoyed anytime over the coming decade or longer. As is common with a lot of 2006s, it has a traditional feel, yet offers solid fruit and texture.

  • Leflaive Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 (6x150cl)

    Wine Spectator (95)

Solid and compact right now, this is a powerful, concentrated white, showing a chalk flavor under the butter and apricot. Gathers speed across the palate, building to a long finish. Needs time to integrate and realize its full potential. Best from 2011 through 2024. 103 cases imported. -BS

  • Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres 2006 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2006 Puligny-Montrachet Folatières from Leflaive was layered, rich and weighty, with tons of character, while Sauzet’s 2006 Puligny-Montrachet Referts showed more of a flinty, mineral-driven personality. Both were beautiful.

  • Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 2006 (2x75cl)

    Wine Spectator (93)

A ripe swath of lime, persimmon, butterscotch and spice notes mark this lush white. It's immediate, with a bright structure, yet remains extremely long and persistent. The finish is its best feature now. Drink now through 2018. 190 cases imported. -BS

  • Leroy Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru 2006 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (96+)

  • Leroy Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes 2006 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

Medium red. Deeply pitched aromas of black cherry, mocha, smoke and earth. Fat on entry, then very ripe, concentrated and full, but with harmonious acidity giving lift to the saline, earth and mineral flavors. The substantial dusty tannins arrive late, but this very young wine is still hiding more than it's showing.

  • Leroy Richebourg Grand Cru 2006 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (96)

Good bright, deep red with ruby highlights. Knockout nose combines cassis, violet, minerals and menthol; this smells important! Sweet and lush in the mouth, conveying a sense of power and force without any rough edges; in fact this is downright spherical. The wine's insidious mineral concentration and rose petal lift give it great elegance in spite of its sheer size. Wonderfully long and sweet on the back end, finishing with explosive flavors of red fruits, flowers and minerals. Wow!

  • Leroy Vosne-Romanee Aux Genevrieres 2006 (3x75cl)

    Vinous (89)

Medium red. Smoky redcurrant, red cherry and sexy earth tones on the nose. Smooth and suave in the mouth, with ripe acids framing the red fruit and floral flavors. More detailed than the Nuits villages, this wine also has more middle-palate density to support its tannins. Finishes clean, firm and minerally.

  • Louis Roederer Brut Nature 2006 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (93+)

The blend is 60% Cumieres Pinot Noir and 40% Hautvillers Chardonnay. 125 cases imported in the US.

  • Louis Roederer Cristal 2006 (1x300cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (97)

The 2006 Cristal is a rich, explosive wine that captures all of the natural radiance of this warm year. Ample and full-bodied, the 2006 is one of the more extroverted recent Cristals. Dosage is 9 grams per liter. Disgorged: 2014.
