  • Clos du Caillou Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Reserve 2000 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (99)

Possibly the wine of the vintage is the 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Le Clos du Cailloux. I tasted this wine four times from bottle, and it has blown away some tough competition. A wealth of fruit, power, and balance, amazing purity, and a sumptuous, 65-second finish are the stuff of legends. As usual, it is a blend of 45% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, and the rest Syrah as well as miscellaneous varietals. The Mourvedre must be picked incredibly ripe as there is never any of that grape's astringency or toughness. However, being an anti-oxidant varietal, I am sure this is a sign of how much aging potential these wines possess. This is an enormous, well-delineated, superb wine. Anticipated maturity: now-2020+.

This estate’s most renowned offering is their old vine (90+ years) Shiraz called The Dead Arm. The unfined/unfiltered 2000 The Dead Arm Shiraz is one of South Australia’s finest wines of the vintage. A perfume of grilled steak intermixed with blackberries, new saddle leather, earth, pepper, and melted licorice rises from this awesome red. Wine Advocate (98)

Unquestionably one of the glories of the vintage, the 2003 Musigny Vieilles Vignes brings forth a highly boisterous nose of spices, violets, roses, plums, blueberries, and black cherries. Deep, powerful, graceful, concentrated, and sensually textured, it slathers the mouth with plums, blueberries, and cherries. Notes of mocha are intermingled with licorice in its exquisitely long finish. This noble wine is crammed with tannin, yet it is sweet and ripe. Projected maturity: 2010-2025+.

  • Conterno Fantino Barolo Sori Ginestra 2003 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

Menthol, pine, sweet tobacco and incense are some of the many notes that take shape in the 2003 Barolo Sorì Ginestra. Deep, pungent and beautifully expressive, the 2003 has developed very well. The Ginestra has more fruit intensity than the Vigna del Gris, but also correspondingly higher tannin.

  • Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Enrico VI 2000 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (90+)

Medium red. Subdued aromas of red cherry liqueur and caramel oak. Richer and broader than the Monfalletto, but comes across as less sweet today and more backward. Slowly mounting finish shows substantial, slightly drying tannins. Very much in the style of a hot year.

  • Corison Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard 2003 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (90)

Moderately saturated ruby-red. High-pitched aromas of blueberry, licorice, chocolate, leather and smoky, cedary oak; slightly liqueur-like. Then supple and sweet in the mouth but a bit youthfully disjointed and not quite as fine-grained as the '04 version, which Corison notes was less affected by heat spikes. Finishes with firm, dusty tannins and notes of chocolate and leather.

  • D'Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz 2000 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

This estate’s most renowned offering is their old vine (90+ years) Shiraz called The Dead Arm. The unfined/unfiltered 2000 The Dead Arm Shiraz is one of South Australia’s finest wines of the vintage. A perfume of grilled steak intermixed with blackberries, new saddle leather, earth, pepper, and melted licorice rises from this awesome red. With great power, richness, and no hard edges, it is still young and primary, but should hit its peak in 3-7 years, and last for two decades or more.

Fresh red fruits and spices are found in the nose of the 2003 Bonnes Mares. Packed with cherries and raspberries, this medium-bodied wine is delightfully expressive, pure, and focused. Armed with outstanding depth of fruit, its forward character lingers in its ripe, angle-free finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2015.

  • Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Au Velle 2000 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (89-91)

Deep red-ruby. Complex, lively aromas of black raspberry, smoke, mocha, animal fur and minerals. The most concentrated and serious of these village wines to this point, with a strong mineral character contributing to the wine chewy firmness. Dusty tannins coat the palate. This will age slowly and well.

  • Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2003 (1x150cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (88-91)

Red-ruby. Reticent nose hints at coffee and sweet oak. Locked up tight today and revealing very little personality. I don't get a lot of sweetness here. Finishes with noteworthy persistence but today the tannins dominate. Seems clearly less successful than the Champeaux.

  • Deutz Amour de Deutz 2000 (1x600cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

The 2000 Brut Millesime Amour de Deutz is a rare Blanc de Blancs made from vineyards in Mesnil (60%), Avize (35%) and Villers Marmery (5%) that the estate uses exclusively for charity events and/or gifts, which is a shame since that means only a few people will ever have an opportunity to taste it. The Amour de Deutz bursts from the glass with endless layers of mineral-infused fruit, showing marvelous intensity and richness. Pears, apples and flowers linger on the finish. Disgorged 12/10/2009. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.

  • Dom Perignon 2000 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2000 Dom Pérignon is a gorgeous wine to drink now, as it is already showing quite a bit of aromatic and flavor complexity. Although the 2000 doesn’t have the multi-dimensional personality or structure of the very best DPs, it does offer tremendous drinking pleasure today. Hints of pastry, baked apple and mint add nuance, with a touch of reduction that lends an added kick of freshness. Ultimately, the 2000 is a very drinkable and delicious Dom Pérignon.

  • Dom Perignon Luminous 2000 (1x600cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

The 2000 Brut Dom Perignon is a gorgeous, seductive wine that floats on the palate with remarkable grace. Toasty aromas meld into freshly cut flowers, apricots and pears, with sweet notes of mint and licorice that linger on the long finish. This perfumed, inviting Dom Perignon is elegance personified, and in this vintage the wine fully merits its lofty reputation. According to winemaker Vincent Chaperone there is only one disgorgement date for the first release of Dom Perignon, and the 2000 was disgorged over a period of weeks in March and April, 2007, 2007.
