Sweetly-fruited and polished in texture, its bitter-sweet sense of herbal concentrate as well as it reserve of primary fresh fruit juiciness combine for a finish of refreshment, buoyancy, and invigoration that is – in a paradoxical but vintage-typical way – also caressing. You feel very comfortable with it, says Millet trenchantly of this wine and the vintage as a whole. Both floral and subtly marrowy meaty elements persist here as well. This should be a delight over the next half dozen years. |

Totally seductive and engaging, the 2009 Chambolle was a thrill a minute to drink. There are times when wine is all about pure, unrestrained pleasure. This was one of those moments. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a slightly chalky texture and a focused, quite Morey-like finish that lingers. There is something serious about this Les Carrières that suggests it will be for long-term consumption. I also tasted the wine from amphora. This has more sheen on the nose, more polish, perhaps. The palate is medium-bodied with black cherry and cassis fruit, the fruit profile similar but the texture silkier than the regular blend. There are touches of pain grillé here, and the wood element is just a little more marked on the finish. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)A lovely bouquet of cherries, rose petals, forest floor and subtle espresso roast introduce the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes, a medium to full-bodied wine with an ample, more open-knit and more ethereal profile than the earthier, denser Clos de la Bussière that preceded. Sneaky persistence on the finish makes me suspect that this will continue to gain in depth as it completes its élevage. |

Vinous (90-92)Bright red with ruby tones. Crushed black fruits and cherry on the nose, lifted by notes of mint, rock and orange zest. Pliant but firm wine with thickness, clarity and lift. Sappy flavors of medicinal dark cherry, spices and red licorice display excellent balance and depth. A strong performance for this cuvée, from a crop that was off by 50% due to the frost. This reminded me of the superb 1993 bottling. |

Large-scaled, concentrated, creamy and rich; wonderfully generous and layered for the vintage, with its red fruit and spice flavors conveying captivating sweetness. This very young wine finishes with big, ripe tannins and terrific saline persistence. Some day this will be magnificent at the dinner table. It's hard to believe that this fruit was picked with potential alcohol of just 12.3%. |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières includes a small proportion of whole bunch fruit. It has a harmonious bouquet with red cherries and pomegranate aromas. I appreciate the definition and precision here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp and crunchy red berry fruit, very natural in style, pure and tensile with a dash of spice on the finish. This should give ten years of pleasure, possibly more. |

Wine Advocate (96+)The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureses is sweet, layered and totally beautiful. At the same time, it is pretty clear the wine has already begun to shut down. With time in the glass, some of the typical weightless energy of Amoureuses comes through, but despite its considerable appeal, the wine is showing only a fraction of its ultimate potential. I imagine the 2009 will enjoy a long drinking window once it awakens from its current slumber. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. |

Vinous (93)The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru has an open nose of brambly red fruit, sous-bois and wilted rose petals, very pure and charming, and not dissimilar in style to François Bertheau's Chambolle 1er Cru. The palate is very harmonious, open and transparent. It feels lighter than others, yet the tension and precision will see this age with style, and perhaps it will not close down. Towards the north of the Cote de Nuits, the chalky soils found in Chambolle Musigny can be credited for the signature elegance of these renowned wines. Although they might be lighter in colour and tannins, red wine from Chambolle does not lack for the purity and intensity of its fruit. The pinnacle of all of these qualities can be certainly be found in the two Grand Cru vineyards located in Chambolle, Musigny and Bonnes Mares.
