Delving into the realms of vintner artistry, we present your palate with the illustrious Bizot Vosne-Romanee Les Jachees 2006. Crafted in the historical wine region of Burgundy, France, this red boasts an intoxicating bouquet with a certain prestige attributed to its maker- Domaine Bizot. As a fervent scholar of biodynamics, Jean-Yves Bizot espouses minimal-intervention winemaking, thereby producing a velvety concoction of pure Pinot Noir aromas. Attention to detail is profound; low-yield vines ensure the concentrated richness, coupled with subtlety that renders this decoction sublimely balanced. The unparalleled savoir-faire of Bizot highlights the full potential of Vosne-Romanée’s vineyards, resulting in this vintage's unparalleled gustatory harmony. With whispers of alluring spices and rich red fruit tones, the Bizot Vosne-Romanee Les Jachees 2006 proves testament to the domaine’s ceaseless strive for excellence, making it a must for dedicated connoisseurs of pure, unadulterated Burgundy.

Vinous (93)

Served by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair from double magnum, the 2006 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru sports a gorgeous, black cherry, sous-bois and white pepper bouquet that still feels youthful (perhaps because of the large format and provenance.) The palate is structured with fine grip, overflowing with vim and vigour. The tannins mellow towards the finish but there remains tremendous weight and sumptuousness here. Excellent. Tasted at La Paulée in Beaune.

Vinous (95)

The 2006 Richebourg is dark and brooding, with tannins that still need time to resolve. A sense of classic austerity runs through the 2006 that I expect will always be present.

Vinous (92+)

Bright red. Aromas of red berries, violet, smoke, truffle and earth. Sweet and lush in the mouth; very rich but less expressive today than on the nose. This will age more on its strong but even tannins than on its acids. Doesn't offer quite the snap of the Beaux-Monts though.

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-94)

(this had recently been racked and sulfited) Good deep red. Pure aromas of musky wild strawberry and brown spices. Sweet, lush and harmonious, with captivating flavors of tangy strawberry and soft spices. Really caresses the palate. Finishes with subtle persistence and sweet, fine tannins. A superb showing.

Wine Advocate (95-96)

Rouget alludes to the aromas of his 2006 Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux as tres particulaire, and you can say that again! Cassis, black raspberry, licorice, musk, toasted pistachio, ginger, and white pepper amaze the nose, followed by an implosive palate concentration that incorporates stony, chalky, and somehow ore-like mineral essences. The sense of sappy cling and invigorating, vibratory impingement of spice and mineral matter here left both my salivary and adrenal glands pumping. This fissionable vinous material should be cellared for at least half a dozen years and then vigilantly followed for at least a further decade.

Vinous (96)

Good bright, deep red with ruby highlights. Knockout nose combines cassis, violet, minerals and menthol; this smells important! Sweet and lush in the mouth, conveying a sense of power and force without any rough edges; in fact this is downright spherical. The wine's insidious mineral concentration and rose petal lift give it great elegance in spite of its sheer size. Wonderfully long and sweet on the back end, finishing with explosive flavors of red fruits, flowers and minerals. Wow!

Vinous (89)

Medium red. Smoky redcurrant, red cherry and sexy earth tones on the nose. Smooth and suave in the mouth, with ripe acids framing the red fruit and floral flavors. More detailed than the Nuits villages, this wine also has more middle-palate density to support its tannins. Finishes clean, firm and minerally.

Wine Advocate (93)

At age 11, the 2006 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux is beginning to show some evolution, offering up a complex and quite ripe nose of sweet red plum, grilled squab, candied peel and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and concentrated, structured around a bright vertical line of acidity that lends superb energy and definition.

In a region with some of the world’s most expensive and sought after Pinot Noir, the appellation of Vosne-Romanee is at the very top of this list, consistently outshining even its most impressive neighbours. Much has been waxed poetic about these wines, which are praised for their intensity, power, finesse, richness, and overall elegance. There are eight Grand Cru vineyards here including Richebourg, Romanee-Saint-Vivant, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, as well as the monopoles La Grande Rue (Domaine Lamarche), La Romanee (Comte Liger-Belair), and Romanee-Conti and La Tache (both monopoles of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.)
