Wine Advocate (96)The 2013 Richebourg Grand Cru was harvested on the afternoon of October 9 and then the following day at just 16.5 hectoliters per hectare, the second lowest after the Echézeaux. It is clearly the elder brother of the 2013 Romanée-Saint-Vivant with intense dark cherry, black plum, tayberry and crushed violet aromas (the latter, perhaps a nod to the Romanée-Saint-Vivant). As with all the domaine's wines this year, it is beautifully defined with beguiling transparency. The palate is medium-bodied, but there is serious weight and presence here. It is struck through with sorbet-like freshness, hints of blood orange tincturing the vibrant red fruit, seguing into a finish with great conviction and confidence, a Richebourg self-aware though not preening about its status. This is a Richebourg to cellar for several years and to enjoy over the next 20 to 25 years (or more). Production is 551 cases. Tasted February 2016. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Suchots, which comes from the domains century-old vines on more clayey soil than the Beaumonts, has a pixilated bouquet with vibrant red currant and cranberry scents, more floral than the aforementioned premier cru. The palate is medium-bodied with supple juicy tannins, a fine line of acidity and a tangy marmalade-tinged finish that coats the mouth in spicy red fruit. There is just lovely build to this Suchots that is streets ahead of the 2012. |

The palate is medium-bodied, very “gourmand” in the mouth, the kind of wine you don’t know whether to drink or eat (not in terms of texture but the flavors). There is a lovely meaty note that surfaces on the long finish. Tres bon vin! |

Vinous (94-97)Saturated, deep red-ruby. Blackberry and cassis aromas are complicated by coffee and a subtle floral character, with some sweet oak adding another dimension. Densely packed and sappy, with an urgent quality and superb lift to the crushed dark berry fruit. A wonderfully saline, soil-driven wine with outstanding inner-mouth tension. The extremely long, slowly mounting finishes features a serious tannic backbone and outstanding vibrancy. Built for a long evolution in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (94-96)The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux has a really quite alluring, complex bouquet with broody dark cherry, blackberry leaf and cold wet stone aromas that are both detailed and intense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, razor-sharp tannins that form a lattice around a core of red fruit. There is a pastille-like purity and an electrifying finish, whose current feels long in the mouth. This is very classy: a great Cros Parantoux, terroir shrugging off what the season threw in its way. |

Wine Advocate (92)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a tightly wound bouquet, dark plum and raspberry fruit, a touch of blackberry, the oak nicely integrated although it is staying inside its shell for the time being. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red cherry and raspberry fruit, the tannins finer than I was anticipating, the acidity well judged as it segues into a backward but focused, quite structured finish. Christophe Perrot-Minot's Beaux Monts has very good potential. Tasted September 2016. |

It is probably a decade too young to drink this, so keep any bottles in the cellar for several years. Tasted at 21 Boulevard restaurant in Beaune. |

In a region with some of the world’s most expensive and sought after Pinot Noir, the appellation of Vosne-Romanee is at the very top of this list, consistently outshining even its most impressive neighbours. Much has been waxed poetic about these wines, which are praised for their intensity, power, finesse, richness, and overall elegance. There are eight Grand Cru vineyards here including Richebourg, Romanee-Saint-Vivant, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, as well as the monopoles La Grande Rue (Domaine Lamarche), La Romanee (Comte Liger-Belair), and Romanee-Conti and La Tache (both monopoles of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.)
