After five minutes it offers raspberry coulis, wild strawberry, marmalade and minerals. You could nose this all day! The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, beautifully balanced with a harmony all its own. It glides across the mouth, so much so that it almost belies the structure underneath. One of the more powerful wines in the vintage, the 2022 Château Feytit Clinet brings an almost Petrus-like structure and density as well as a stunning nose of ripe red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with leafy herbs, chocolate, tobacco, and truffles. With full-bodied richness, a deep, layered mid-palate, nicely integrated smoky oak, and a blockbuster of a finish, this brilliant wine should be snatched up by savvy readers. It will ideally be given 4-6 years in the cellar, but you'll be excused for opening bottles now. It should cruise for two decades, if not longer. With just under 2,000 cases produced, the 2023 Château Feytit-Clinet comes from one of my favorite producers in Pomerol, an estate located in the Clinet sector and run by Jérémy Chasseuil that's always worth seeking out. Based on 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc from gravel and clay soils and aged 15 months in 70% new French oak, it offers assorted darker berry fruits, scorched earth, chocolate, and leafy tobacco on the nose. On the palate, it's concentrated and full-bodied, with a broad, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. Very good medium-deep color. Floral, somewhat high-toned aroma of crushed berries, licorice, smoke, chocolate and coffee. Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux tasting. The 2012 Gazin has a complex, quite mercurial bouquet that seems quite confit in style at the moment. After five minutes it offers raspberry coulis, wild strawberry, marmalade and minerals. You could nose this all day! The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, beautifully balanced with a harmony all its own. It glides across the mouth, so much so that it almost belies the structure underneath. The 2014 Gazin was stubborn and broody when tasted in bottle, but give it a few swirls and there comes forth gravel and black truffle scents alongside sultry black fruit. These aromatics are so engaging and involving, drawing you in towards it charms. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and taut with great precision and sappiness towards the focused, almost symmetrical, black truffle-laced finish.
