Vinous - Ian D'Agata (87-90)Inky violet. Seductive spice-and floral-accented blackberry and dark plum aromas, plus a gentle hint of cured tobacco. Reasonably ripe and surprisingly plush for the vintage, with sweet dark berry flavors, gentle if youthfully chewy tannins and impressive sweetness on the moderately persistent finish. This seems built to withstand aging better than most other Bordeaux of 2013, but I'd still drink it up within ten years of its release for maximum enjoyment. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2014 Cos-Labory has a slightly pinched bouquet at first, gradually opening with blackberry and briary scents, just a touch of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, sappy black fruit laced with graphite and black pepper, quite harmonious with a crisp and poised, satisfying finish. Excellent, traditional Saint Estèphe and perhaps one of the best Cos-Labory I have tasted thus far. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)The 2016 Cos Labory is a supple, pretty wine with plenty of near and medium-term appeal. Sweet tobacco, cedar, leather, scorched earth and menthol are all nicely laced together. From bottle, the 2016 is a bit more subdued than it was from barrel, while some slightly rough contours are going to need time in bottle to sort themselves out fully. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)The 2017 Cos Labory is pliant, open-knit and quite expressive. Spice, dried flowers, dried herbs, red cherry and tobacco are all finely-knit. A lovely wine, Clos Labory is just as delightful as it was en primeur. Readers can expect an attractive, mid-weight Saint-Estèphe built for near and medium-term drinking. The 2017 is nicely balanced and easy to like. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)The 2018 Cos Labory is fabulous. An extra kick of richness from the warm year and a bit more Petit Verdot than usual result in a Cos Labory that is wonderfully savory, powerful and layered. Black cherry, plum, cloves, chocolate and dried herbs build as this potent, exotically ripe Saint-Estèphe opens in the glass. Today, the 2018 is dark, brooding and in need of cellaring. Cos Labory is a bit wild, but that just adds to its considerable allure. |

Jancis Robinson (16+)Deep crimson. Nose is both fresh and ripe. Not the most opulent wine; it finishes a little dry. Really quite drying in fact. There’s no shortage of ripe fruit here and the minerality of St-Estèphe imposes itself. Another wine that does not taste as though it came from an unripe vintage but you need to love St-Estèphe to love this wine. The finish is distinctly inky and hard work. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (85)The 2008 La Dame de Montrose has a very austere and reserved bouquet, broody and earthy and frankly not much fun at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin. This is masculine in style, dark plum and dark chocolate with a slightly smudged finish that does not exactly encourage another sip. I wonder if this deuxième vin peaked already? Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92+)A gorgeous second wine, the 2014 La Dame de Montrose is soft, open-knit and very pretty. Bright floral notes add lift and a measure of elegance to the dark-fleshed fruit. Medium in body, with good depth and fine overall balance, the 2014 is just about as good as it gets for a second wine. I won't be surprised if it is still delicious at age 20, although I think its best drinking will take place earlier than that. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)The 2015 de Pez is dark, powerful and super-inviting. A rush of black cherry, plum, chocolate, gravel and smoke run though this gorgeous, delineated Saint Estèphe. Today, the Pez is virile, tannic and imposing, with noble character and personality to burn. The 2015 has really grown since I last tasted it. This is superb effort for the vintage, but my impression is that the best is yet to come for this chateau, where quality continues to grow. The 2015 is 51% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. |
