The 2015 Rauzan Gassies is powerful and rather rustic, with potent tannins that convey and impression of rusticity. Smoke, grilled herbs, licorice, scorched earth and wild cherry notes add to the wines brooding, virile personality. The 2015 could turn out to be a small jewel of a wine if it softens a bit with time in bottle. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.In Bond£670.00 -

The 2016 Rauzan-Gassies is delineated and focused on the nose, the new oak neatly subsumed into the vibrant red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, a little gritty in texture but with a complex earthy, cedar-tinged finish reminiscent of a Pauillac. Gorgeous nose of raspberries and blueberries. Hints of chocolate and oak. Full bodied, but compacted and very racy. Lovely fruit with milk chocolate, but the texture of tannins is so beautiful.
