  • Bart Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2015 (2x75cl)

    Burghound (90-93)

A fresh and more complex nose mingles wonderfully fresh aromas of both red and dark currant, violet, lavender and subtle spice wisps. There is excellent volume and concentration to the intense middle weight flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel while delivering very solid length on the firm but not hard finale where a touch of warmth emerges.

  • Comte Georges de Vogue Musigny Grand Cru VV 2003 (2x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

Unquestionably one of the glories of the vintage, the 2003 Musigny Vieilles Vignes brings forth a highly boisterous nose of spices, violets, roses, plums, blueberries, and black cherries. Deep, powerful, graceful, concentrated, and sensually textured, it slathers the mouth with plums, blueberries, and cherries. Notes of mocha are intermingled with licorice in its exquisitely long finish. This noble wine is crammed with tannin, yet it is sweet and ripe. Projected maturity: 2010-2025+.

  • Georges Roumier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2006 (2x75cl)

    Wine Spectator (95)

A touch of a vegetal element to the sweet cherry and woodsy spice flavors and a sinewy texture mark this red. It seems closed down now, with the structure dominating, but there's a smoldering intensity and energy that powers the long aftertaste. Offers both elegance and depth. Be patient. Best from 2014 through 2028. 110 cases imported. -BS

  • Jacques Frederic Mugnier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2000 (2x75cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (88-91)

Black fruits, tar, coffee and mocha on the nose; a bit less vibrant than the Chambolle examples. Big, rich, oaky and velvety, but still closed in the middle. Notes of earth, stone and herbs. Finishes with substantial, broad tannins.

  • Jacques Frederic Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru 2000 (2x75cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-94)

Full red, but not darker than the Amoureuses. Sappy, deep aromas of raspberry, minerals and flowers. Offers a very ripe flavor of liqueur-like raspberry but is still quite tightly wound and dominated by its structure. More austere, even monolithic today, and showing less detail than the Amoureuses, perhaps because this was the last wine to be racked. Best now on the long, subtle, stony back end.

  • Joseph Drouhin Musigny Grand Cru 1996 (2x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 1996 Musigny Grand Cru has an enticing, well-defined bouquet of dark berries, iris flower, dried blood and pine needle scents, opening nicely with aeration. Medium-bodied and, like many 1996s, quite backward and burly in style; a masculine Musigny with traces of freshly rolled tobacco on the finish. Moderate length. This has clearly got legs, though where is it going to go? Tasted at the Drouhin Musigny vertical in London.

  • Laurent Roumier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2021 (2x75cl)

The Laurent Roumier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2021 is a masterpiece by maverick Laurent Roumier, an artisan renowned for producing wines of unrivalled quality from France's Burgundy region. This exquisite red wine is cultivated in the hallowed Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru vineyard - a sun-soaked stretch of nine hectares that nourishes the Pinot Noir. Harvested manually, it accentuates the expression of the terroir and ensures the refinement of flavours. Following traditional vinification in wooden vats, the wine matures in French oak barrels, imbuing it with nuanced complexity. The Laurent Roumier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2021 spoils the palate with rich tastes of ripe fruits, velvety tannins, and a long, gratifying finish. Impeccably balanced with an appealing freshness, this Grand Cru wine is a coveted cache for the discerning wine enthusiast. It stands as the embodiment of Laurent Roumier's dedication to preserving the tradition while pushing the boundaries of exquisite winemaking.

  • Louis Jadot Musigny Grand Cru 2021 (2x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)

1 x 350 litre barrel is the whole crop! No great depth to the colour, nor do I pick up much on the nose. The more sumptuous style of Musigny shows on the palate but in a muted register. Just a fraction peppery behind but the weight of slightly riper fruit returns behind that. Persistent, sensual, well made, just not on a fortissimo scale this year. Drink from 2028-2035+. Tasted: October 2022

  • Vougeraie Musigny Grand Cru 2012 (2x75cl)

    Tim Atkin MW (99)

There are only three barrels of this in 2012 (at the best of times, it's a hand-made, small quantity wine), but what a sublime Musigny it is. Floral and scented with velvety tannins, effortless concentration, some spicy whole bunch notes, subtle oak and a sappy, sikly mid-palate. So good, you could drink it now. But wait!

Towards the north of the Cote de Nuits, the chalky soils found in Chambolle Musigny can be credited for the signature elegance of these renowned wines. Although they might be lighter in colour and tannins, red wine from Chambolle does not lack for the purity and intensity of its fruit. The pinnacle of all of these qualities can be certainly be found in the two Grand Cru vineyards located in Chambolle, Musigny and Bonnes Mares.
