Wine Advocate (92)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées has a more broody and introspective bouquet compared to the 2013 Malconsorts from Bichot, although it has its own virtues, bestowed with gorgeous dark plum and cranberry scents, again a touch of dried rose petal lending a kind of femininity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red cherry and cranberry fruit, nicely structured with a fine line of acidity. There is a touch of chewiness on the finish although with age this will mellow and turn into a fine Vosne-Romanée. Tasted September 2016. |

An essential concentration of deep dark fruit, but this time with an absolute feeling of precision. Lifted, racy, electric, spicy with a depth of concentrated mostly raspberry fruit. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)40% new wood, December bottling. Far from the deepest in colour, but definitely not the least elegant either! Rose petals abound. A few fresh alpine strawberries too. This has remarkable tension on the palate and is almost as nuanced as an Echezeaux (at least as, Jean-Pierre thinks!). Certainly there is a gorgeous, almost glossy aftertaste. Highest pH. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: November 2023. |

The palate is sweet and candied with rather aggressive tannin, possibly overdone in the winery, although I can abide the grainy, quite masculine finish. But will that dry out with age? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)Guyon walks the old-vine parcels that produce this cuvée a day or two before harvest, selecting grapes by taste and marking which vines to pick and which to relegate to the regular Vosne-Romanée. The ensuing 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Charmes de Mazières is outstanding, unfurling in the glass with a deep but reserved bouquet of wild berries, rose petal, cinnamon, incense and orange rind. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied and deeper, more concentrated and more layered than the regular Vosne, framed by fine chewy tannins that will need some time. It's a wine that transcends the vintage. |

Really stains the palate. With aeration, a deeper smoky, earthy tang and more adamant minerality emerged. A beauty, but lay it down for at least seven or eight years. |

Deep and thick on the palate; dense with extract and utterly smooth too but with explosive energy suggesting that this wine will repay long aging. Finishes with outstanding rising smoky persistence and powerful stony minerality. These 2010s, bottled in February of 2012, display extraordinary digestibility. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-96)(vinified with some whole clusters, but a lower percentage than was used to make the RSV and Clos Vougeot): Medium red, a bit less saturated than the RSV. Reticent but rather wild aromas of red berries, smoky underbrush and caraway seed. Sweet and smooth in the mouth; larger than the RSV but less demonstrative and complex today in spite of possessing very good energy. Most impressive today on the rising, palate-staining finish, which features terrific grip and serious spine for two or three decades of aging. Fairly powerful for a wine from this producer, particularly given the essentially gentle style of the year. |

Intensely flavored and sharply delineated, showing excellent lift and verve to its red fruit and soil flavors. An element of medicinal red cherry and emerging minerality suggest that this silky, deep wine will enjoy a graceful evolution in bottle. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and lovely rising perfume. With time in the glass, this wine demonstrated its firm spine more clearly. |

Otherwise I find this well defined and with flattering red cherry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. There is a fine bead of acidity here, a pleasant fleshy mouthfeel towards the finish and a residual salinity that beckons you back for the next sip.
