Vinous (94-96)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru is limited to two-and-a-half barrels this year, making it the domaine’s smallest cuvée, and only bottled in magnum. It has an earthy, loamy nose, almost peat-like, very well defined, with ample black fruit. The palate has sinew on the entry and great depth and assertiveness. Very complex and intellectual with that limestone terroir defining the very persistent finish. This is a wonderful Malconsorts for those who worship "proper" Burgundy. |

Jancis Robinson (17.5)Light to mid crimson. Scented with red fruit and stone dust. Mouth-watering freshness and purity, well structured by the finest of tannins that are easy to underestimate as they are so refined. Long and juicy. |

Vinous (95-98)Good bright red-ruby. Black raspberry, cassis, violet, dark chocolate, licorice and cinnamon on the restrained but very pure nose and palate. The subtly complex palate offers compelling sweetness and early charm, making this wine much easier to taste today than the Cros Parantoux. Wonderfully pliant Richebourg, delivering an exhilarating combination of sweetness and spice. The finish saturates the entire palate, with noble tannins buried under a wave of flavor. |

Vinous (95-97)The 2018 Richebourg Grand Cru has a much more imposing bouquet compared to the Cros Parantoux, the intense blackberry, bilberry, crushed stone and clove scents gently unfurling in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and enormous depth, yet gentle in terms of grip. There is a sense of symmetry on the finish here, along with superb length, yet this will clearly require more bottle age than the Cros Parantoux. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)Aromas of cherries, dark chocolate, sweet soil tones and potpourri preface Méo's 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes, a medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly muscular wine with a generous core of fruit framed by rich and powdery tannins. This is quite a virile, powerful Chaumes this year, and it will reward bottle age. |

Wine Advocate (95)The 2014 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts has an engaging bouquet that is very terroir expressive and well defined. It offers vivid redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit enriched by woodland scents, damp moss and crushed stone. The palate comes across as very structured and saline, quite masculine after tasting the 2015 from barrel, though Sebastien Cathiard pointed out that after a month it seemed to close up. Whilst not quite as riveting as the 2015, it still fulfills the promise of the barrel sample I tasted last year. |

Wine Advocate (94-96)The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts was showing a little more reduction on the nose compared to the other cuvées. Underneath though, lies intense and quite voluminous red berry fruit, later rose petals, a touch of woodland coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with quite high-toned entry, vivacious blueberry fruit mixed with cassis and orange pith, then closing in quickly on a structure and grippy finish (it finished its malolactic not until September so this would explain this). It will require several years in bottle. It is not quite as audacious as the 2015 Malconsorts, but certainly a prince to that king. |

Vinous (95)The 2018 Richebourg Grand Cru has a very intense bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit, crushed rose petals, baking powder and black truffle aromas; this is very complex. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, the 40% whole cluster lending tension and pepperiness, and grippy on the broody, slightly austere finish. This will need several years in bottle. Maybe a bit saturnine at the moment, but it will find more luminosity with bottle age. |
