The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village comes from three or four parcels within the commune. It has slightly darker fruit compared to the La Colombière, perhaps not quite as pixelated in style. The palate is fleshy and forward with succulent ripe tannins, good density and layer of raspberry, strawberry and spicebox toward the finish. Just a delicious Vosne-Romanée.Inc. VAT£2,580.04 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96)
5 Star Wine. One of the deeper purple colours. There is a significant weight of fruit, and it is clean enough. This is in the very opulent super-ripe fruit whole bunch style. Still needs time for the future path to become clear. A little dryness at the back and some pepper with blood orange notes in the mix. Very long, with some dark pepper notes. Drink from 2033.Inc. There is just enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background but not so much as to mask the pretty spice wisps. This is an excellent Vosne villages that is worth your interest.Inc. VAT£516.41 -

Bursting with aromas of blackberries, cassis, spices, rose petals and orange rind, the 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Charmes de Mazières is medium to full-bodied, rich and chewy, with a muscular chassis of firm tannin and a reserved, introverted profile. Guyon hopes to bottle it without added sulfites.Inc. VAT£2,060.44 -
Vinous (97)
The 2018 Richebourg Grand Cru has a very intense, well-defined bouquet of blackberry and cassis aromas, hints of eucalyptus coming through with time; this is absolutely irresistible. The palate is very well balanced with fine delineation and poise and shows a subtle marine influence. Superb.Inc. VAT£4,022.42 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru has a more refined, mineral-driven, slightly earthier bouquet compared to Les Suchots, offering a mixture of red and black fruit, bay leaf and a touch of baking powder. The palate is medium-bodied with a core of candied red fruit, quite plush and very sensual. Orange and mango notes permeate the lush, caressing finish. You could drink this now. One that will be too tempting once in bottle.Inc. VAT£1,397.21 -
Wine Advocate (93-95)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots is showing brilliantly this year, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of cassis, blackberries, spices and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into a deep and layered core, concluding with a long and penetrating finish.Inc. VAT£2,119.24 -
Vinous (97)
The 2018 Richebourg Grand Cru has a plush nose with layers of red fruit, and a veneer of seriously high-quality oak perfectly in proportion to fruit intensity. Lavish and precocious in keeping with the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with a core of sweet sappy red fruit, lightly spiced with candied orange peel and marmalade scents, surprisingly peppery and vibrant on its persistent peacock’s tail of a finish. Pretty awesome overall. This Richebourg unquestionably needs time. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.Inc. VAT£1,767.20 -
Vinous (93-95)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru has a southern orientation, but Mathilde Grivot was surprised that it only reached 13.0° alcohol; this was due, she believes, to the rain before the harvest. It takes a little time to cohere in the glass. After a couple of minutes, it offers lovely red and black fruit intermingling with black truffle and damp earthy/woodland aromas, delicate and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, precise and focused. Not a Aux Brûlées of substance and density, but rather one of precision and focus. Excellent.Inc. VAT£531.85 -
Decanter (95)
Always one of Etienne and Mathilde Grivot's stand-out Premier Cru reds, this is not the most immediate of their cuvées at a young age, often displaying some grip and tannic backbone as well as a hint of meaty reduction, but the fruit concentration and depth is remarkable here, supported by chalky minerality and scented 30% new wood. Wonderfully patrician and well-structured.Inc. VAT£806.42 -

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village, matured in 20–25% new oak, has a well-defined, almost airy bouquet of red cherries, cranberry and sous-bois aromas that develop rose petal notes with time. Vinous (89-91)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru comes from a parcel that lies just above Richebourg and receives 50% whole bunch. Now this is one cru that comes across a little trop on the nose, displaying a soupçon of volatility. The palate is sweet on the entry with dark cherries, loganberry and sea salt notes. Lush and powerful, though missing a bit of finesse and precision on the finish.Inc. VAT£1,212.02 -
Jancis Robinson (17)
Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Stunning red-fruited perfume here. Floral and fruity in the extreme. Fine and finely chewy tannins, scented on the palate, with the dry character that it is hard to get in combination with this scentedness outside of the Côte d’Or. Pure, pretty but with depth as well. Long and moreish with the freshness to balance.Inc. VAT£432.04 -

The 2018 Richebourg Grand Cru has a much more imposing bouquet compared to the Cros Parantoux, the intense blackberry, bilberry, crushed stone and clove scents gently unfurling in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and enormous depth, yet gentle in terms of grip. There is a sense of symmetry on the finish here, along with superb length, yet this will clearly require more bottle age than the Cros Parantoux.Inc. VAT£7,231.61 -

Vinous (95-97)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux 1er Cru, which was picked before the Richebourg, has a very intense bouquet of blackberry, blueberry and raspberry plus crushed stone and crushed violet petals that gains vigor with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and very harmonious, featuring touches of white pepper and crushed stone, wonderful focus and fine structure toward the persistent finish. This is excellent and really exposes the pedigree of the terroir, but I agree with Méo that it is one of the most approachable Cros Parantoux in recent years.Inc. VAT£1,563.20 -

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Clos des Réas 1er Cru comes from the 2.12-hectare monopole of the domaine, though 0.4 hectares was pulled up two years ago for replanting. It has an attractive bouquet of well-defined black cherries, blueberry and hints of cassis and orange peel aromas. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry. There is good depth here, although I find that the Aux Brûlées has better assimilated its new oak. The finish is a tad disjointed at the moment.Inc. VAT£966.04 -
