The roots start spreading in the clay then become stricter on the minerals. Just like the wine Bruno says. Clavelier's 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes Maizières Vieilles Vignes is gorgeous. It possesses a real core of inner strength, naturally in the more restrained style of the year. (50% vendange entier; bottled in June of 2011, the last '09 to be bottled because this cuvee, says Tremblay, always needs longer elevage to integrate its tannins): Good bright medium red. Serious but discreet nose hints at dark raspberry, licorice and minerals. Concentrated, spicy and minerally but in a rather restrained stage today. Very rich and deep for village wine but will need some time in bottle to absorb some of its substantial ripe, dusty tannins and gain in definition.Inc. VAT£7,446.58 -

Good full red. A raspberry aroma is complicated by wild notes of game and smoky lees. At once dense and juicy, showing excellent creamy depth for village wine. Really spreads out on the back end to saturate the entire palate. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and serious structure. This wine is always large-scaled and reduced in the early going, notes Tremblay, and is generally the last to be bottled. Should make a superb village wine.Inc. VAT£728.65 -

Good dark red. Reticent aromas of black cherry, violet and minerals, complicated by a hint of bitter chocolate. Juicy and tightly wound; not a sweet or generous style but reveals lovely salinity and subtle dark fruit intensity with aeration. This youthfully reserved village wine is solidly structured but not hard, finishing with firm but even tannins. Ultimately a bit more generous than the Morey-Saint-Denis Très Girard, with the tannins more enrobed by fruit and mineral extract. Tremblay won't do her first racking until she assembles the wines next April in preparation for bottling in July. I take my time, she told me.Inc. VAT£788.65 -

Vinous (92-95)
Bright red-ruby. Aromas of black raspberry and pungent minerality show a deep note of coffee reduction. Large-scaled, dry and classic, and quite backward and uncompromising today, with flavors of dark berries, smoke and crushed rock saturating the palate. Dusty tannins spread out horizontally on the vibrating, stony back end. Here's another 2016 that will require patience. Superb potential. In Bond£2,396.00
