Healthy dark red. Pure but reticent nose offers scents of dark berries and licorice pastille; at once slightly liqueur-like and fresh. Rich, fine-grained and sweet, but a bit less fruity and stylish than the 2016 version. This is ultimately tighter and more powerful and built to age. Doesn't show the finesse of the 2016 version in the early going but avoids coming across as hard.Inc. VAT£822.07 -
Crafted with brilliance, the sophisticated Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru Marconnets 2015 is a quintessential Burgundy. (the yield here was about 33 hectoliters per hectare, vs. an estate-wide average of 28 in 2015): Bright ruby-red. Subtle scents of boysenberry, blackberry, bitter chocolate and anise. Concentrated, tactile Beaune premier cru with layered dark berry flavors and lovely integrated sweetness. This very fine-grained, harmonious wine finishes with sweet dark fruits and suave tannins. This wine showed good power but a slight rusticity from barrel a year ago; it's more classy in its finished form.Inc. VAT£822.07 -

The 2013 Chambolle Musigny les Charmes comes through three plots just under les Fuesselots that make 1.3 hectares. It has a slightly more reserved, masculine bouquet compared to les Plantes at the moment, but there is still fine focus and delineation in situ. The palate is supple in the mouth, leaning more here to the red side of the fruit spectrum with cranberry and pomegranate, structured on the finish with an attractive grainy texture. Outstanding!Inc. The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes has a fragrant and perfumed bouquet, wilted rose petals littered over red cherry and strawberry fruit, displaying fine transparency and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and contains plenty of energy. It is more linear than I expected -- there is a palpable strictness here -- yet there is impressive focus and structure on the finish. I would give this 2-3 years in bottle and you should have a charming Charmes. Tasted September 2016.Inc. VAT£1,504.87 -
