Vinous (95-97)he 2019 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru contains 20% whole bunch, since the single parcel of 80-year-old vines tends to produce tiny bunches. This has a complex bouquet of red plum, red currant, marmalade and light peppery notes that seems to expand with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Poised and harmonious, leading to a precise and very persistent, earthy finish. Superb. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)5 star. Picked 2nd September at 13.5%. 80% new wood. 10% whole bunch. Lovely mid purple, not the deepest. More reserved than Mazoyères but clearly with an amazing depth. Crystalline purity, a whole bevy of fine red fruits underlined by a little torrefaction. It is really backward still but with extraordinary length. Very stylish. And actually then a huge weight of fruit returns even later. Tasted: November 2021 |

Burghound (93)An explicitly animale nose features notes of humus, spice, underbrush and red currant, all of which is trimmed in more subtle wood nuances. This is also lush to the point of opulence with good size, weight and muscle to the medium weight plus flavors that deliver even better depth on the beautifully well-balanced and persistent finish. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2012 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from 0.42 hectares of 50-year-old vines. This is another exemplary expression of this vineyard with a more sensual bouquet than the Charmes-Chambertin: perfumed raspberry and fresh strawberries billowing from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, very well poised and sporting well-judged acidity. There is a natural, refined composure to this Mazis-Chambertin, which does not short-change you in fruit intensity on the rounded, velvety finish. This is probably the best wine I have tasted from this domaine. |

Wine Advocate (92)The 2013 Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru was bottled in December and aged in 100% new oak. Even though there is more new wood than the Charmes, here on the Mazis I find superior integration and it is in sync with the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm but supple tannin, good body and density but with sufficient elegance on the finish. This is a broad-shouldered Mazis-Chambertin that should reward cellaring. |

Vinous (90)The 2017 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a rather backward and introverted bouquet offering boysenberry fruit and a touch of India ink. The palate is balanced with fine tannin and well-judged acidity. It just misses a degree of complexity and mineralité, making the finish pleasant but not memorable or profound. |
