To be honest, if I had this blind, I would not have said there is stems in this blend, which I see as a good thing. Vinous (91-93)The 2020 Beaune Clos des Couchereaux 1er Cru has a sorbet-fresh bouquet, touches of blood orange suffusing the vivacious red fruit. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, gentle grip, slightly darker fruit than the Theurons with a dash of cracked black pepper on the finish. Good potential, but it will require 3-5 years in bottle. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)The 2022 Beaune Teurons 1er Cru is fully de-stemmed for the first time. This leans more towards red fruit on the nose, though maybe because of the lack of stems, it doesn't quite have the personality or freshness as the Tuvilains. The palate is well-balanced with lively red fruit and good depth, and the 35% new oak neatly integrated with fine depth on the finish. I feel it will improve with time in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (92)The 2017 Beaune Village really over-performs this year, bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, licorice, orange rind, grilled ceps and peonies. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, succulent and enveloping, with fine depth and concentration, powdery structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish. Combining substance with structural charm, this will offer a broad drinking window. As ever, this cuvée is a blend of premiers crus Boucherottes and Epenottes with the lieux-dits Prevolles and Beaux Fougets, so the raw materials are unusually serious for a communal bottling. |
