Vinous (91-93)

Good deep red. Very ripe nose dominated by cherry and sweet oak. Broad, ripe and oaky, with lovely restraint to its sweetness. Fruit-driven red raspberry and cherry flavors framed and lifted by new oak. A big wine with a substantial tannic structure. But the tannins are quite fine.

Vinous (91-94)

Medium red. Perfumed, slightly high-toned aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and minerals. The flavors of small wild red fruits display an almost confectionery sweetness along with superb intensity and sappiness. Very stylish and showy, with terrific floral cut adding to the wine's early appeal. Quite high-toned, and sure to be accessible early.

Burghound (93)

A gorgeously expressive and densely fruited nose featuring aromas of violets, rose petal, earth, game and mostly red berry fruits merges into slightly austere but wonderfully complex full-bodied flavors that flat out explode on the tremendously long finish. I did not taste this originally from cask and frankly wasn't expecting that the quality would be equivalent to the fantastic Clos St. Denis but it is indeed comparable. A great '04 Clos de Vougeot.

Burgundy is Pinot Noir’s spiritual home, and nowhere in the world better illustrates terroir than here. Two vineyards side by side result in wines with subtle yet intricate differences in structure and aromatic profile – and often not so subtle differences in price.
