Vinous (93+)Good full red. Very subdued nose hints at redcurrant, spicy herbs and underbrush. Highly concentrated but youthfully tight, with a lightly saline quality to the complex flavors of blueberry, wild herbs, sandalwood and mocha. Just this side of thick but its superb balance of sweetness and acidity keeps it vibrant in the mouth. The long, ripely tannic finish features an exhilarating salty minerality. I may be underrating this. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (92-95)Good medium red. Highly perfumed but youthfully reticent nose suggests flowers, licorice, pepper, crushed rock and brown spices. Sweet, seamless and utterly primary, with terrific intensity to the dark berry and spice flavors. But this extremely backward wine will need a decade of aging. Finishes with dusty tannins and vibrant, lingering notes of ginger and lavender. |

Vinous (91-93)(from 68-year-old vines featuring a high percentage of tiny millerande grapes): Good dark red with ruby tones. Black fruits, violet and strong oak notes of bitter chocolate and coffee. Fat, thick and powerful, with terrific depth of material and enough acid/tannin structure to give shape and freshness to the creamy middle. The blackberry and licorice flavors carry through on the long, rising finish. |

Vinous (93-96)Good full medium red. Slightly reduced nose offers sexy scents of dark cherry, cocoa powder, flowers and summer garrigue. Sweet, silky and fine-grained, with superb lift to its fruit and mineral flavors. This coats the palate in a completely different way from the previous samples. Finishes very long, with noble tannins and lovely finesse. Cathiard does look for big extraction here. |

Vinous (89-92)(from 11-year-old vines planted to three clones): Good full, bright red. Very floral, perfumed aromas of black cherry, lavender and cardamom. Spicy, sweet and expressive but with less depth than the Murgeys. But this boasts impressive power and intensity for young vines and is not overpowered by oak. Tannins are a bit less fine than those of the Murgeys, though. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2010 Chapelle-Chambertin is a haunting wine graced with exquisite aromatics and layers of silky fruit. This is all class and elegance. The 2010 boasts striking inner perfume and sweetness all the way through to the finish. There is a level of textural brilliance and finesse here that is just plain gorgeous. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040. |

Wine & Spirit Magazine (95)Vougeraie owns close to 2.5 acres of vines in Clos de Vougeot, in the northwest sector of the vineyard, including several blocks planted in the late 1940s and early ?50s. Farmed under biodynamics since 2001, the vines produce a true grand cru wine, the 2010 seductive and monastically severe at once. Its scent is awesome: the perfume of the earth after a rain, the essence of cherries and pressed flowers. The flavor is dense, a youthfully blank slate that fills with the interplay of sun and earth as the complexity develops for minutes after each taste. Check on this with ten years of bottle age; it?s destined for greatness. |
