Vinous (92+)(from a parcel close to Bouchard's in En Orveaux): Good medium red. Medicinal cherry, licorice, peppery herbs and minerals on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. At once dense, fine-grained and juicy; seamless but a bit withdrawn, even reduced, offering savory mineral complexity to its redcurrant, raspberry and cranberry fruit flavors. Uncompromisingly dry wine in a cool, energetic, even slightly lean style, in need of patience. But there's lovely density of texture here. The tannins are firm-edged on the lively, youthfully medicinal back end. This grand cru gained in sweetness with extended aeration. |

Vinous (90+)Bright medium red. Subdued, slightly medicinal scents of cherry, raspberry, licorice, black pepper and wild herbs, complicated by spices and a hint of leather. Tight and taut, with rather ungiving cherry, menthol and crushed stone flavors in need of time in bottle to relax and unwind. Not a fleshy or sweet style--in fact a bit dusty today--and in need of patience. Finishes with slightly dry-edged, firm tannins and lingering spiciness. Will this rather cool premier cru expand with time in the cellar? |

Wine Advocate (96)Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Faiveley's 2014 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very perfumed bouquet with pure dark plum, bergamot and pressed rose petal aromas that filter from the glass. Wonderful. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, tensile from the start with hints of bay leaf and spice toward the structured and persistent finish. This is a very strong showing from Faiveley, a really marvelous Mazis-Chambertin for the long-haul. Tasted September 2017. |

Vinous (91+)(vinified with about 25% whole clusters): Bright, dark red. Aromas of black cherry, currant, violet, licorice and bitter chocolate convey a medicinal reserve. Finer-grained and firmer than the Chaignots, showing subtle saline minerality and enticing floral lift to the intense dark berry flavors. Still in a very dry style but boasts lovely definition, and there's more extract here to buffer the firm tannins. A more perfumed Vosne style of Nuits than the Chaignots. Finishes with firm but sophisticated tannins and lovely rising perfume. Very suave wine. |

Vinous (91-93)Bright ruby-red. Captivating violet and lavender lift to the aromas of black cherry, menthol and bitter chocolate. Juicy, energetic and sharply delineated, showing terrific thrust to its dark fruit, licorice and spice flavors. I would have picked this blind as a 2013. This will require at least several years of bottle aging. |

Wine Advocate (94-96)The 2014 Griottes Chambertin Grand Cru has a very intense bouquet with maraschino, blueberry and violets blossoming in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit, blueberry and a hint of balsamic, leading to a quite a structured and dense finish that just needs a touch more finesse. I think that will develop with time. Superb. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2014 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière has a slightly earthy bouquet with fine definition and red berry fruit with a touch of bay leaf. The palate is fresh and crisp: supple tannin, lovely balance here and freshness, and that mineral seam peaking over the surface towards the tensile and poised finish. The is suffused with wonderful purity and nervosité. Yum yum! Whenever I meet Christophe Roumier, I get the impression of a Burgundy superstar in the eye of a storm. Around him, the world over, Roumier is the Holy Grail for collectors bidding astronomical sums for bottles that bear his family name. There is a cavalcade of visitors yearning to tour his cellars and meet the man...just to look at his barrel-and-a-bit of Musigny would be enough. And Christophe himself? Well, he just the usual down to earth, self-effacing gentleman that he always is and always will be. He's just concerned with his vines and his winery. All the hullabaloo out there beyond Chambolle? Well, sometimes I think he would prefer if it could all be left to the likes of DRC and Leroy. Christophe never asked to be an icon. |

Vinous (94-97)(aging in two new Remond barrels): Bright, dark red. Deep, brooding aromas of black cherry and smoke are currently muted by a bit of reduction. Then wonderfully sweet, silky and seamless on the palate, conveying an incredibly suave texture and great inner-mouth perfume to the complex flavors of dark berries, earth and smoky oak. Very classy juice; Boillot told me he used the same precise barrique for the Volnay Champans and that he plans to use more Remond barrels in the future. The rising, subtly spicy finish shows uncanny energy and a lighter touch than the Clos de Bèze. A knockout. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru les Goulots was the last to be picked as they wanted to wait for the weather to achieve ripeness (around September 24). The nose is very attractive, with the whole bunch fruit lending freshness and vigor, subtle woodland aromas, perhaps even a hint of mushroom. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, masculine and upright with decent structure, "correct" on the finish but precise and detailed. This shows what this vineyard can do in the right hands. |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The 2014 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru les Millandes was picked a little earlier just to keep the acidity from the berries that were affected by millerandage. It has a well defined bouquet with light gravel scents infusing the blackberry and briary fruit. This is very correct but also very composed. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly earthy red berry fruit. There is still some oak to be subsumed, but I think it was a right decision to pick early as the acidity maintains sufficient tension on the slightly foursquare finish. |

A knockout. |

Vinous (93)Bright, dark red. Captivating aromas and flavors of raspberry, flowers and gibier, lifted by a note of white pepper. Comes across as distinctly wild after Boillot's estate bottlings from the Côte de Beaune. Quite broad and round for both Clos Vougeot and the 2014 vintage, offering noteworthy freshness, pliancy and depth. Finishes very smooth and long, with ripe, fine-grained tannins and no hard edges. |

Vinous (91-94)Dark red-ruby. Tight, medicinal aromas of black cherry, bitter chocolate and menthol. Very rich and deep, with captivating sweetness cut by medicinal menthol and minerals. Highly concentrated, dense and broad but uncompromisingly dry. Finishes very long and perfumed, with serious saline tension. This very impressive premier cru has a big tannic structure and may well close down after the bottling. |
