(from estate vines in Pougets, facing southeast): Bright yellow. Reticent but pure scents and flavors of ginger, gentian, fresh herbs and menthol convey strong soil-driven energy. More about minerals than fruit but this wonderfully juicy wine boasts terrific thrust and early personality, not to mention outstanding flavor intensity and generosity. FYI: the cellar price for this wine is 80 Euros, while the Montrachet sells for 500. You make the call.Inc. VAT£264.25 -

Cask sample. Tantalising aroma – so young but you can sense the potential. Deep, pure citrus, barely inflected by the creamy oak but given breadth and texture by it. Deep with richness that borders on just-ripe pear even though the lemon purity drives to the finish. It may well age longer but these days I am more cautious with white burgundy.Inc. VAT£949.24 -

Recently stirred so cloudy. Affects the bouquet too, so that is hard to judge. Unquestioned weight, plenty of energy, the lees with the wood shows more at the finish. No reason why this should not be an excellent wine. Another sample was produced, representing the component raised in foudre only, 10 barrels worth, so one third of the whole, has a clear pale lemon and lime colour. The fruit is clearly ripe but with no signs of exotic fruit. This fills the palate beautifully, a little citrus, enough white fruit flesh and then a long stony finish. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, imparting a signature complexity to the wine. Millemann Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022 possesses a radiant golden hue and a beguiling nose of orchard fruits, nuanced by subtle oak undertones.
The palate is an indulgent play of ripe citrus, mellowed by an elegant minerality. The final impression is one of lingering opulence. Thus, the Millemann Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022 is more than a wine; it's a testament to Burgundy winegrowers' finesse.

A similar concentrated yellow, with a well toasted nose on top of more crystalline fruit. Production is higher here, with 1x 500, 1 x 300 and 1 x 228-litre barrels, all new. The malolactic was just finishing so not yet sulphured. Perhaps the more reductive of the two whites. There is a fine mineral core which stretches fully across the palate. Generous plum with some ripe apple notes, before the return of the vanilla. An attractive savoury aftertaste. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Jul 2024.In Bond£750.00
