Vinous - Antonio Galloni (98+)Then came the 2009 Bonnes-Mares. What a wine! While the Musigny showed more of a red fruit profile, the Bonnes-Mares was quite a bit darker. It also had a lot more underlying structure. With time in the glass, hints of menthol, tar and dried roses added complexity. Both wines took us on a journey. Ultimately, though, the Musigny gave up its charms easier, while the Bonnes-Mares continued to open up over several hours, seemingly with something new to say with each taste. It was flat-out monumental. The stuff dreams are made of. |

With time in the glass, some of the typical weightless energy of Amoureuses comes through, but despite its considerable appeal, the wine is showing only a fraction of its ultimate potential. Wine Advocate (92)The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees impresses for its superb textural richness. Dark red cherries, flowers, mint and spices are woven together in a fabric of notable beauty. There is plenty of tannic material, but the fruit is so dense the wine’s structural elements are a bit in the background. The wine continued to close down in the glass, which is likely to be quite positive for its aging potential. Despite the massive temptation to drink this early, my impression is that patience will be rewarded. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. |

Wine Advocate (98)The 2009 Musigny is a huge, structured wine within the context of the domaine. Big, tannins support a highly expressive core of dark fruit, smoke and licorice. This is a decidedly powerful, almost extreme style of Musigny that will require considerable patience to settle down. An explosive, mineral-drenched finish lingers on the palate. The 2009 is flat-out dazzling. Wow. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. |

Vinous (93-94)(this was racked off its lees the day before my visit and was slated to be bottled before the 2011 harvest): Slightly cloudy yellow. Aromas of peach, apple, spices and crushed stone, with a hint of noble reduction. At once chewy and smooth, with a distinctly taut quality to its flavors of apricot, minerals, anise and flint. Finishes saline and powerful, with a flavor of custard pie as well as a note of grapefruit pith that tickles the taste buds. Lots of aging potential here. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93+)Good medium red. Slightly reduced, reserved aromas of kirsch, minerals and clove. Quite taut in the mouth, and showing much more energy in bottle than it displayed from barrel in November of 2010. The medicinal redcurrant and red cherry fruit flavors are complemented by saline and pronounced spice qualities. Ultimately silky and classy wine, with a long, clinging finish that shows continuing spice character. This needs a good eight to ten years of bottle aging. |

There is an intense minerality to the fruit that gives the wine much of its power. The Beaux-Monts is firing on all cylinders today. A crescendo of fruit saturates the palate on the finish. This is another headspinning 2009 from Grivot. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. |

Superripe aromas of black cherry, tobacco, licorice, mint, minerals, violet and orange peel; even the nose conveys an impression of tightly coiled energy. The palate delivers almost confectionery sweetness but with solid underlying spine to the black fruit, violet and licorice flavors. Finishes with noble, sweet, fine-grained tannins and great perfumed, spicy, slow-building persistence. This is almost painfully backward and will need a good decade to express itself. |
