    Vinous (93)

The 2007 Dizy-Corne Bautray is soft, silky and quite open. Lemon peel, mint, white flowers and white pepper are some of the notes that give the 2007 its distinctive brightness and energy. Equally polished on the palate, the 2007 is exceptionally silky and finessed in its tactile impression. A wine of classiness and total understatement, the 2007 should drink well for at least another 5-10 years, perhaps more. There is good brightness in the glass, but the wine’s structure is very much medium in body. The NV (2013) Extra-Brut Les Beguines is just as impressive as it has always been. In 2013, the Beguines benefits from a long growing season and an October harvest, something that has become exceedingly rare in Champagne. The NV (2015) Extra-Brut Les Beguines is laced with intense floral and mineral notes that at times show distinct Riesling-like inflections. In this release, Beguines is a bit less angular and severe than it often is at this stage in its life. Dried apricot, sage and chamomile are some of the many nuances that open up in this distinctive and highly expressive Champagne from Jérôme Prévost. The 2015 is medium in body, and yet my impression is that there is a good deal of concentration lurking in the background. Disgorged August 2017. Dosage is 2.8 grams per liter.

The 2018 Extra-Brut Les Beguines is a gorgeous Champagne from Jérôme Prévost. In this release, the Beguines is a bit more ethereal than it can be. There is plenty of Meunier character, with dried orchard fruit, spice and hazelnut flavors that are nicely lifted. This edition is 90% 2018 plus 10% reserve wines, all done in the 600-liter casks that Prévost favors. What the 2018 lacks in depth it more than makes up for with its charm and accessibility. • Jerome Prevost La Closerie NV (1x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)

The NV Grand Cru (base 2022) is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from Le Mesnil and Puisieulx, respectively. Dense and quite powerful, the 2022 offers quite a bit of textural richness. Tropical overtones add an exotic flair while also recalling the solar intensity of a year marked by heat and drought. I find it a bit reduced and therefore suggest readers open the wine as far in advance as possible. Hints of passion fruit, coconut, hazelnut and dried flowers linger. Dosage is 2.5 grams per liter. • Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines 2013 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The NV (2013) Extra-Brut Les Beguines is just as impressive as it has always been. In 2013, the Beguines benefits from a long growing season and an October harvest, something that has become exceedingly rare in Champagne. The white orchard fruit, citrus peel, herb and floral notes speak with clarity and precision. All the elements simply fall into place in a first-rate Champagne of pedigree and total class. Readers who can still find the 2013 should not hesitate, as it is fabulous.
  • Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines 2015 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The NV (2015) Extra-Brut Les Beguines is laced with intense floral and mineral notes that at times show distinct Riesling-like inflections. In this release, Beguines is a bit less angular and severe than it often is at this stage in its life. Dried apricot, sage and chamomile are some of the many nuances that open up in this distinctive and highly expressive Champagne from Jérôme Prévost. The 2015 is medium in body, and yet my impression is that there is a good deal of concentration lurking in the background. Disgorged August 2017. Dosage is 2.8 grams per liter.

  • Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2018 Extra-Brut Les Beguines is a gorgeous Champagne from Jérôme Prévost. In this release, the Beguines is a bit more ethereal than it can be. There is plenty of Meunier character, with dried orchard fruit, spice and hazelnut flavors that are nicely lifted. This edition is 90% 2018 plus 10% reserve wines, all done in the 600-liter casks that Prévost favors. What the 2018 lacks in depth it more than makes up for with its charm and accessibility. Dosage is 2.5 grams per liter. (Originally published in May 2021)
  • Jerome Prevost La Closerie NV (1x75cl)

Disgorged: October 2025.

  • Joseph Perrier Cuvee Josephine 2008 (3x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (90)

A blend of roughly equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the 2008 Brut Cuvée Josephine was disgorged after ten years sur lattes. Offering up a reserved bouquet of warm biscuits, dried citrus rind and yellow apple, it's medium to full-bodied, with a somewhat firm and compact profile, missing the plenitude that characterizes some of the house's more recent offerings. This is a creditable but somewhat conservative effort that seems to have more to do with the house's past than its future.
