  • La Conseillante 2021 (1x300cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (95-97)

The 2021 La Conseillante was picked the latest in memory, from September 28 until October 8, at 39hL/ha, and matured in 70% new oak. It comes in at 13.3% alcohol and a pH of 3.6. The beautifully defined bouquet offers blackberry, bilberry and light iris petal scents, just a suggestion of black truffle coming though with time. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and lightly spiced red fruit. There is a very subtle ferrous note, lovely depth and grip on the finish, and a persistent aftertaste. A beautiful La Conseillante courtesy of winemaker Marielle Cazaux and her team.

  • La Conseillante 2022 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (98-100)

A wine that has perfection written all over it is the 2022 Chateau La Conseillante, which is 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc that’s still resting in 70% new French oak, with a tiny amount in amphora as well. Revealing a vivid purple hue, it offers a perfumed yet incredibly classy, almost discreet bouquet of crème de cassis, spring flowers, red plums, incense, and spice. This terroir never seems to yield the biggest, richest wine in a vintage, yet it's almost unrivaled in its ability to deliver complexity and elegance. Full-bodied on the palate, with ultra-fine tannins, flawless balance, and again, a purity of fruit that's just about off the charts, it's going to offer pleasure with just 4-6 years of bottle age (these usually enter their prime drinking window a decade after a vintage) and have 30-40 years of prime drinking. The 2022 hit 13.9% alcohol with a pH of 3.65.

  • La Conseillante 2023 (6x75cl)
    (6x75cl) 2023

    Wine Advocate (98-100)

One of the great wines of the vintage, and one that can rival its 2022 counterpart, the 2023 La Conseillante wafts from the glass with a strikingly floral bouquet of violets, lilac, raspberries, exotic spices, candied orange, pipe tobacco and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, its textural attack segues into a layered and enveloping core of pure, vibrant fruit framed by sweet tannins and concluding with a long, precise finish. It's a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, some 30% of which is maturing in amphorae. Harvest began on September 7, lasting until October 2, block by block.
  • La Creation 2018 (6x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (93)

Unusually for Merlot-dominated Pomerol, this 13-acre vineyard is planted with 51% of the two Cabernets. The resulting wine is richly fruity and structured, with generous chocolate and black-coffee flavors as well as dark berry fruits. The wine needs time and will be best from 2025.

  • La Croix de Gay 2015 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)

Just as it showed from barrel, the La Croix de Gay is powerful and structured to the core. There is tremendous depth to the red cherry and plum fruit, while the aromatics offer a good deal of nuance, with hints of cedar, tobacco and dried herbs that add complexity throughout. Readers should expect a brooding, reticent Pomerol that demands cellaring. There is not a whole lot of immediacy or sexiness here, at least not today. Even so, the 2015 has turned out beautifully.

  • La Croix de Gay 2016 (12x75cl)

The 2016 La Croix de Gay has an appealing bouquet featuring plenty of dusky black fruit laced with espresso and light tertiary aromas. This could only be from Pomerol, though it is less floral than before. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, a fine bead of acidity and a judicious touch of black pepper sprinkled over the finish. Lovely for those seeking a more “restrained” Pomerol. Wine Advocate (94)

I have always thought this was the best Fleur de Gay since the 1989 and 1990, and it showed extremely well in the 2000 horizontal tastings. Dense ruby/purple, with notes of melted caramel and mocha, along with raspberry and blueberry, the wine has that endearing combination of elegance and power. Layered and multi-dimensional, with silky, sweet tannins, the wine seems to have hit full maturity, where it should last for another 20 or more years. This is a beautiful wine.

The 2014 La Fleur de Gay has much more complexity on the nose compared to its peers with intense blackberry, black truffle and smoke aromas emerging from the glass in orderly fashion. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin. There is still a layer of new oak to wade through at the moment, but there is certainly substance to soak that up with time. Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 La Fleur Petrus has been an impressive Pomerol in recent showings. This one does nothing to alter that view. It has plenty of energy on the nose with great delineation: cranberry, pomegranate, singed leather and a touch of melted tar, firmly moving into secondary territory. The tannins need time to soften, but there is plenty to look forward to. This is an especially ripe style, but it all works nicely.

  • La Fleur de Gay 2016 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2016 La Fleur de Gay is a wine of real personality and class. Dark cherry jam, mocha, espresso, blood orange and rose petal give the 2016 an exotic quality that is hugely appealing, while beams of supporting tannin provide the framework. In the glass, the 2016 is rich, dense and remarkably vivid, all of which make it absolutely compelling. This is a fabulous showing.

Blackcurrant, coffee beans and toast on the nose. This is ample and so concentrated with a deep core of black fruit and liquorice. Tannic muscle but carefully integrated supporting the fruit to give a balanced frame overall. Feels sophisticated, heady and seductive. Long ageing potential.

  • La Fleur de Gay 2020 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (91-93)

The 2020 La Fleur de Gay sports a deep purple-black color and notes of wild blueberries, chocolate-covered cherries and mulberries, plus fragrant suggestions of candied violets, cinnamon toast and clove oil. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black and blue fruits with loads of spicy accents and a soft, velvety texture, lifted by just enough freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Impressive!

A magnificent Pétrus. A virtual spicerack of a wine, this Bordeaux features exotic, spicy aromas, with nuances of cinnamon, strawberries and raspberries. Full-bodied and tannic, with an amazing wild berry, sweet fruit and spice aftertaste. Best after 2002. 3,200 cases made.

Fantastic. Dark ruby color with hints of purple. Glorious aromas of blackberry, tobacco, cedar and slightly wet earth. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a fabulous finish. This is subtle and refined. Wonderful length. Tasted side by side with the 2000 Pétrus, it is clearly better. Today, I give it two points higher than previous tastings. Perfection.--Pétrus non-blind vertical. Best after 2012.

A sleeping giant. Dark ruby in color, showing aromas of blackberry, cèpe and green olive, with a hint of mineral. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a supercaressing mouthfeel. Turns to coffee, dark chocolate and berry. Chewy yet balanced. Very, very long in the mouth. The finish is absolutely breathtaking. Best after 2013. -JS

  • La Fleur Petrus 2007 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (92)

Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 La Fleur Petrus has been an impressive Pomerol in recent showings. This one does nothing to alter that view. It has plenty of energy on the nose with great delineation: cranberry, pomegranate, singed leather and a touch of melted tar, firmly moving into secondary territory. The palate is medium-bodied with good structure, still quite tight but with a keen line of acidity and plenty of truffle-infused, black, dusky fruit on the finish. Great wine in an off-vintage. Tasted February 2017.
