Further south, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is celebrated for its rich and full-bodied red blends, with Château Rayas and Clos des Papes leading the way.
In Alsace, vineyards such as Domaine Zind-Humbrecht and omaine Trimbach craft exquisite white wines, including Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris, expressing the region's unique terroir and varietal character.

The 2016 Destieux has turned out beautifully. A gorgeous, modern Saint-Émilion, Destieux offers tremendous depth and textural resonance from the outset. Dark, jammy fruit, chocolate, spice and new leather take on exotic shades of dimension. Destieux is a decidedly flamboyant Saint-Émilion endowed with superb richness and tons of sheer appeal. This is a terrific showing. In Bond£424.00 -

The 2018 Destieux has a lovely, ripe, blueberry and cassis scented bouquet with violet petals that emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet saturated tannins and moderate acidity. It lacks a little structure on the finish and the new oak is too vocal, but hopefully that will resolve itself by the time of bottling. Let’s see.In Bond£424.00 -

Beautiful cassis, ripe black cherries, spring flowers, and graphite notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Destieux, a medium to full-bodied, seamless, and remarkably pure Saint-Emilion. Based on two-thirds Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, it shows the balance and elegance of the vintage, as well as incredible purity of fruit. It's already impossible to resist yet will evolve for well over two decades. In Bond£413.00 -

The 2020 Destieux has a clean but slightly overdone nose with light peppermint scents coming through with aeration. The palate is full-bodied with quite dense tannins. It's plush but less overbearing than I have found previous vintages of Destieux, managing to retain some freshness and precision on the finish. I'll keep an eye on this.In Bond£411.00 -

I loved the 2021 Château Destieux, a classy, medium-bodied, impressive 2021 that has ample darker berry fruits, some classy background oak, ripe tannins, and textbook Saint-Emilion notes of graphite, crushed stone, and leafy herbs. It's beautiful today yet should benefit from just a few years of bottle age.In Bond£413.00 -

The 2000 Brut Millesime Amour de Deutz is a rare Blanc de Blancs made from vineyards in Mesnil (60%), Avize (35%) and Villers Marmery (5%) that the estate uses exclusively for charity events and/or gifts, which is a shame since that means only a few people will ever have an opportunity to taste it. The Amour de Deutz bursts from the glass with endless layers of mineral-infused fruit, showing marvelous intensity and richness. Pears, apples and flowers linger on the finish. Disgorged 12/10/2009. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.In Bond£2,607.22
