  • Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes 2015 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (92+)

Bright, dark red. Subtly complex aromas of raspberry, blueberry, spices, minerals and soil. Silky, seamless and concentrated, with its atypical richness leavened by harmonious balancing acidity and a musky saline element. This terrific Feusselottes shows outstanding sappy energy and a long finish featuring suave tannins, a note of red licorice and excellent rising length. This should age slowly and gracefully. (I tasted two different 375-milliliter bottles of the very deeply colored and highly concentrated 2016 Echézeaux but both of my samples finished tannic and dry owing to slightly off corks.)
  • Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes 2017 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru has a very mineral-driven bouquet, slightly earthy in style; a touch of graphite emerges with time. There is real energy here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a fine bead of acidity. A little savory compared to other crus, with a dash of black pepper on the finish. Very fine.
  • Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes 2018 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru has a beautifully defined nose of vivid red berry fruit infused with wilted rose petals and peony. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, and so harmonious that you would not guess that the fermentation did not begin until the beginning of December! At 14.2°, the alcohol is disguised, though it does seem to scalp some of the precision.

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru has an attractive nose of shimmering red berry fruit tinged with shucked oyster shells and wet limestone/petrichor; the 50% new oak is neatly integrated here. The palate is succulent and fleshy on the entry, delivering all the rondeur you could want from a Chambolle-Musigny but with countervailing tension and spiciness toward the silky smooth finish. So pure! This will give 20–25 years of drinking pleasure.

  • Nairac 2011 (12x37.5cl)

    Vinous - Ian D'Agata (93-96)

(3.52 pH; 7.5 g/l total acidity; 180 g/l residual sugar): Bright yellow-gold. Enticing sauvignon blanc-dominated aromas of kiwi, passion fruit and green fig complicated by dried apricot and orange jam. Fresh, dense and very sweet, with extremely persistent flavors of tangerine, ripe apricot, saffron and peach nectar. Finishes very bright and long. This wine sports one of the highest residual sugar levels of the vintage yet it comes across as less sweet than the numbers would suggest thanks to its very high total acidity. Another outstanding wine for Nairac, which insiders know to be the single best buy in Sauternes today. The last few years have seen one great Nairac after another.

  • Nairac 2012 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (90)

The 2012 Nairac has a peachy nose with Golden Delicious, honeysuckle and pear scents, fine definition though it needs a little more focus. The palate is well balanced with quite a tangy entry, good weight, waxy in texture with stem ginger and light lemongrass notes on the finish. Fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.

2016 marks the first bottling of de Nalys under the Guigal umbrella and this intensely ripe but pristine wine makes a promising debut. It's luscious but elegant, loaded with rich black-plum and cassis flavors firmed by piquant hits of licorice and pepper. Silky tannins make it approachable already but the wine should improve through 2036 and hold further still.

The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Grand Vin offers more depth, with a darker core of fruit as well as complex notes of peppery garrigue, loamy earth, and incense. The balance here is spot on, it's medium to full-bodied, and has great tannins, all making for a brilliant Châteauneuf du Pape with tons to love. It shows the sunny style of the vintage as well but doesn't lose a beat with regards to elegance and finesse. Give bottles 3-4 years and it should have two decades of overall longevity.
