  • Soutard-Cadet 2019 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (97)

I love this château, and the 2019 Château Soutard-Cadet is another brilliant wine that's in the same ballpark as the 2018. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as a rich, powerful nose of ripe black fruits, scorched earth, spicy oak, graphite, and damp earth, it's rich and concentrated, yet the purity is brilliant, it has silky and perfectly ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. As I wrote from barrel, it's going to benefit from just 2-4 years of bottle age and, I suspect, have 20, 25, if not 30 years of overall longevity.

    (6x75cl) 2020

    Jeb Dunnuck (94-96)

Another incredible wine from Marie Lefévère, the 2020 Château Soutard-Cadet boasts a dense purple hue as well as awesome cassis and darker, almost blue fruits to go with lots of tobacco leaf, graphite, crushed stone, and background oak. It’s another medium to full-bodied, pure, seamless wine in the vintage that stays focused and elegant on the palate, with ripe, polished tannins. The purity of fruit is terrific as well.
  • Soutard-Cadet 2021 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (93+)

I was able to taste the 2021 Château Soutard-Cadet on multiple occasions and it never failed to impress. Red plums, subtle cassis, graphite, and a beautiful sense of minerality define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a vibrant, pure, focused mouthfeel, nicely integrated tannins, and a great finish. It clearly has the fresher, cooler style of the vintage yet this has density and depth. It's a gorgeous wine that will benefit from just a few years in the cellar and keep for 15+ if well stored. The blend is 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, raised in 70% new barrels (225- and 500-liter.)

It clearly has the fresher, cooler style of the vintage yet this has density and depth. It's a gorgeous wine that will benefit from just a few years in the cellar and keep for 15+ if well stored.
