Vinous (95)The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru sports quite a bit of reduction on the nose that makes the terroir and fruit profile difficult to read. The palate is well balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity and good depth; quite powerful for a Folatières. Fine bitter lemon notes surface on the finish, which is very sapid and more-ish. A long-term wine but well worth cellaring. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. |

Vinous (93)The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru is still backward and reticent on the nose, gunflint and light smoky aromas gently unfold from the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a little more weighty than expected with touches of apricot and quince towards the citrus-fresh finish that leaves a residue of spice on the tongue. Excellent. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru displays more mineral tension and energy on the nose compared to the Le Referts. It is very focused with wet limestone, apple blossom and a touch of blackcurrant leaf. The palate is well balanced with a touch of white chocolate on the entry, more expressive and deeper than the Les Referts with more tension and terroir expression on the finish. Excellent. |
