  • Fattoria La Massa Giorgio Primo 2016 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

The consistency and depth of this wine is just incredible. Like the Carla 6, the 2016 Giorgio Primo shows an inky dark color, almost totally black, with penetrating fruit and long waves of rich fruit flavor throughout. George the First casts mesmerizing spells of spice, tar and smoke. This is a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. This is another outstanding effort from Fattoria La Massa and its eccentric but visionary founder, Giampaolo Motta. Some 16,000 bottles, magnums, double magnums and other large formats were created.

The Fèlsina 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is true, elegant and bright. This wine is teaming with inner energy and beautiful fruit resonance that comes forward with forest berry, tilled earth, cassis and pressed violet. These aromas are held in tension, creating a crest or halo that radiates from deep inside. It remains mid-weight in approach, but don't underestimate the length and polished mouthfeel that drives a long and very elegant finish. I came back to my sample 24 hours later and appreciated the perfectly aligned and integrated character of the tannins. Give this wine plenty of time to evolve and flesh out in your cellar.

  • Felsina Fontalloro 2016 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (98+)

The 2016 Fontalloro is the best vintage of this landmark wine that I have tasted thus far. This is a very elegant vintage, with more volume in the mouth and precise notes of tar, licorice, camphor ash, resin and Indian spice. In a race between the highly competitive 2015 and 2016 vintages, I give a slight advantage to this wine. The warmer 2015 vintage shows more richness and exuberant fruit. However, this wine from 2016 offers a more focused and chiseled delivery. I am hopeful that this wine will continue to evolve and sharpen as it ages in the bottle. This is a beautiful wine to put aside in your cellar for ten years or more.

  • Fertuna Maremma Messiio 2016 (6x75cl)

Humbly presenting Fertuna Maremma Messiio 2016, a quintessentially Italian marvel from the renowned Tuscany region. Fertuna, being a most dexterous producer in Maremma, has birthed this sumptuous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese. This illustrious 2016 vintage is a testament to Fertuna's penchant for blending tradition with innovation, evident in the wine's amendable texture and harmonious complexity.

For Fertuna Maremma Messiio 2016, Fertuna vinifies each variety separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel, ageing the elixir for 18 months in French oak, followed by a rich 6-month slumber in the bottle. The result? Layers of intricate flavours - black cherry, plum, and hints of spicy clove- intricately braided with supple tannins and luscious acidity.

Radiating a dark ruby colour, Fertuna Maremma Messiio 2016 strikes with an exquisite floral nose, smoothly dovetailing into an elegant, full-bodied wine. It is, without a doubt, a tapestry of Tuscan enchantment.

  • Feudi di San Gregorio Patrimo 2016 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (97)

I tasted this wine twice over the course of six months, in advance of its commercial release. The 2016 Pàtrimo is quite a wine and needs all the extra bottle time it can get. Indeed, I would suggest putting it at the back of your cellar for another 5 years (at least). It opens to a black and impenetrable appearance. This is an elaborate and beautifully constructed wine that is put together piece by piece like a jigsaw puzzle. When viewed as a whole, all those tiny pieces create a beautiful portrait of a grape as the protagonist and of a region as its context. This full-bodied Merlot has made important strides since I first tasted it. Today, it is more expansive and exuberant. It shows lots of volume and depth with elegance and finesse.

The Famiglia Anselma Barolo Bussia 2016 encapsulates the true essence of the region, offering vibrant red fruit flavours, underpinned by notes of dried herbs and intense minerality - an exquisite symphony of savour, elegance and power. With a distinctive potential for ageing, this wine is a splendid investment for those with a discerning palate.

  • Felsina Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia 2016 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98+)

  • Fontodi Case Via Pinot Nero 2016 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (96)

The 2016 Pinot Nero Case Via is fabulous. In fact, the 2016 may very well be the finest edition of Fontodi's Pinot I have ever tasted. A wine of tremendous aromatic intensity, inner sweetness and delineation, the 2016 Pinot simply has it all. Of course, the highly favorable growing season adds quite a bit of pedigree as well. The Fontodi Pinot is not especially varietal, but it is off the charts beautiful and absolutely compelling. It was fermented in terra cotta and aged in French oak, 50% new. What a wine!

  • Fontodi Chianti Classico 2016 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2016 Chianti Classico Fontodi brings together all the elements that make the Fontodi wines so unique, but with an extra kick of freshness and aromatic intensity that is the result of a year with notable diurnal shifts during the growing season. Dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and menthol develop in the glass, but it is the wine's extraordinary balance and sheer appeal that stand out most. In time, 2016 may very well become the new benchmark for Fontodi's Chianti Classico. The 2016 is flat-out delicious. That's pretty much all there is to it.

  • Fontodi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo 2016 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is another benchmark wine from Tuscany that shows the incredible potential of this iconic vintage. This beautiful single-vineyard Sangiovese reveals a graceful side with dark fruit intensity, cherry, plum, fresh violets and tilled earth. Tar, tobacco and licorice appear as delicate background tones, giving more volume and texture to the wine's sensorial impact. Vigna del Sorbo shows its own precise identity that is fiercely faithful to Sangiovese, but that also pushes the boundaries to go beyond our highest expectations of the grape in terms of color, concentration, aromatic complexity and staying power. That's the Panzano magic in a nutshell.

  • Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve 2016 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (100)

The 2016 Flaccianello della Pieve is off the charts. Fresh, vibrant and explosive, with tremendous overall intensity, the 2016 possesses magnificent richness, with sumptuous fruit purity and simply unreal balance. Creamy, silky tannins add to the wine's sophistication and overall polish. The 2016 is dark, inky and powerful, but not at all heavy. Giovanni Manetti gave the 2016 18 months in French oak (75-80% new), followed by 6 months in cask. This is the first vintage in which a small amount (2%) of the wine was aged in amphora. In a word: stunning! Don't miss it.

The 2016 Barolo Brunate is captivating. Dried herbs, mint, sage, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and gentle earthy notes give the 2016 lovely aromatic complexity. Like all of the Rinaldi 2016s, the Brunate has a bit more early appeal than some other recent vintages. Even so, there is plenty of depth, Brunate muscle and overall structure to support a number of years of fine drinking.
