  • Roagna Asili Vecchie Viti Barbaresco 2016 (1x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (99)

Enticing scents of fragrant blue flower, perfumed berry, new leather and camphor slowly take shape on this focused, fantastic red. Bright acidity keeps it well-balanced and gives it great aging potential.
  • Roagna Asili Vecchie Viti Barbaresco 2017 (6x75cl)

The 2017 Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti is quite closed and austere, almost shockingly so. It will be interesting to see if more Asili sensuality emerges over time. For now, the 2017 is very obviously on the severe side, with good energy, but less through the mid-palate. Sweet dried cherry, mint, chalk and dried herbs linger.

Drawing its fruit from a leased vineyard in Neive, the Roagna 2014 Barbaresco Albesani opens to a medium ruby color with pretty garnet highlights. The wine is redolent of dark fruit, dried cherry, tilled earth and black licorice. There is much more aromatic intensity here than you might expect given the rather subtle and nuanced appearance the wine makes in the glass. The soils in Albesani are fundamentally calcareous, and these conditions add to the perfumed and fragrant qualities you get here. Production for this wine is 230 cases (of 12 bottles each).

Roagna's 2004 Barbaresco Crichët Pajè is every bit as impressive as it was upon release, if not moreso. Still vibrant and explosive, the 2004 soars from the glass with a stunning bouquet redolent of crushed berry fruit, rose petal, tar, lavender and menthol. The 2004 is fabulous today. Sweet red cherry, mint, kirsch, hard candy and white pepper are all beautifully delineated. In many vintages, Crichët Pajé was massively tannic and forbidding. The 2008 is the most refined vintage of this wine I have ever tasted. Put simply, the 2008 is sublime. Even so, my impression, and hope, is that subsequent vintages will be even better.

  • Roagna Asili Vecchie Viti Barbaresco 2016 (1x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (99)

Enticing scents of fragrant blue flower, perfumed berry, new leather and camphor slowly take shape on this focused, fantastic red. Smooth, elegantly structured and savory, the palate boasts an understated finesse, delivering juicy strawberry, cranberry, star anise and an almost salty mineral note framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it well-balanced and gives it great aging potential.
  • Roagna Asili Vecchie Viti Barbaresco 2017 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2017 Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti is quite closed and austere, almost shockingly so. It will be interesting to see if more Asili sensuality emerges over time. For now, the 2017 is very obviously on the severe side, with good energy, but less through the mid-palate. Sweet dried cherry, mint, chalk and dried herbs linger.

    Wine Advocate (95)

Drawing its fruit from a leased vineyard in Neive, the Roagna 2014 Barbaresco Albesani opens to a medium ruby color with pretty garnet highlights. The wine is redolent of dark fruit, dried cherry, tilled earth and black licorice. There is much more aromatic intensity here than you might expect given the rather subtle and nuanced appearance the wine makes in the glass. The soils in Albesani are fundamentally calcareous, and these conditions add to the perfumed and fragrant qualities you get here. Production for this wine is 230 cases (of 12 bottles each).

  • Roagna Barbaresco Albesani 2017 (1x300cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2017 Barbaresco Albesani is delicate and ethereal. Crushed flowers, sweet dried cherry, cinnamon and orange zest give this deceptively light-bodied Barbaresco a good deal of both nuance and complexity. All the elements are so nicely balanced. Vinous (96)

Amazingly it might still need a few years in bottle to be accessible.
  • Roagna Barbaresco Crichet Paje 2008 (1x300cl)

    Vinous (97)

The 2008 Barbaresco Crichët Pajé is a gorgeous, translucent wine that shows this cool, late-ripening vintage at its best.
