The Glenturret
Founded in 1763 in the picturesque Highland town of Crieff, The Glenturret has perhaps the strongest claim to the title of oldest legal distillery in Scotland, even preceding Littlemill and Strathisla. Considering Glenturret's age it is no surprise that it has been through a tumultuous history with a number of closures due to World Wars, Prohibition, economic downturn and disinterested owners, the distillery at last became a hub for whisky lovers when it became a part of the Edrington Group (of Macallan, Glenrothes and Highland Park fame) and hosted the Famous Grouse Experience.
Even with such illustrious stablemates it was not fully appreciated by its new owners and after being acquired by the owners of artisan crystal-makers Lalique, it at last has the attention and appreciation it deserves. With appropriately grand new packaging courtesy of Lalique themselves, the services of long time distillery manager Ian Renwick who has been custodian of Glenturret's elegant spirit for over 25 years and a renewed sense of vigour for the future, Glenturret combines their existing glory with the promise of new investment and focus, ready to become one of the premier names in fine Single Malt Whisky.
